E3 2017

There was nothing to really sell the XB1X...
It wont help them gain on Sony...

Bethesda was just sequels and DLC...

XBX is way too niche given the price point and software on offer.

PS4 Pro isn't a convincing product all-around either, but it is at least priced a lot more competitively.

Just saw the Anthem gameplay video, and that does look pretty cool.
I could have done without the fake voice chat.
It's been a trend in gameplay trailers the last couple years and always makes them feel very staged and thus rather suspect that the footage is representative.

That Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer...
*picks up jaw from floor*...
The Ubisoft conference is good...

Oh, that was fake voice chat? I had just assumed the voice chat was recorded while members of the game team or press played it.
Ubisoft definitely had the most impressive reveals so far.
Skull and Bones sounds like it could be fun, and the BG&E2 trailer was just incredible.

No, it was clearly scripted and voiced by paid actors. They did the same thing with The Division last year IIRC.

I guess I see what they were going for, but that's kind a weird way to go about it. So I take that wasn't real gameplay footage, and the actual game may end up looking nothing like that?

Ubisoft's presentation was very good. I was iffy on the Mario+Rabbids game from the initial leaks and rumours, but it looks pretty good. I'll have to take a closer look at the game - I'm sure they'll be demoing it during the Treehouse livestreams this week. Seems to have won over a lot of people too with the gameplay demonstration.

Interesting that Ubisoft is jumping into the toys-to-life market with that space sim game. I thought the TTL market was getting tapped out.

It was certainly captured in-engine, though whether or not it would run that smoothly, look that pretty or transition that seamlessly remains to be seen.
It's not that I'm calling shenanigans, it's just that if they're going to fabricate one element for the sake of presentation, how can we trust they won't also embellish everything else?

It looks great, but of course the trailer was not at all representative of actual gameplay - it wasn't supposed to either, game is nowhere near far along enough for that.

The end result is going to resemble the Destiny and The Division style looty-shooties heavily and if they're doing a really good job, the shooting might come close to feeling as good as Bungie's (would be a nice surprise).

The setting is pretty much declaring creative bancruptcy, but then again, it may still turn out pretty cool depending on how much they're investing into their world building. Looking forward to seeing more.

Minecraft going unified across all platforms with the new bedrock engine in a minecraft relaunch, and everything will be cross play, cross buy, cross platform, as will all DLC, and now on switch and xbox infinite worlds, just amazing.

Well apart from PS4 owners, Sony said no to this, but PC, W10, Xbox, ISO, Andriod, Switch, VR, all will become one minecraft community, just amazing.

Oh man, Insomniac's Spider-Man looks great. Insomniac is one of my favorite developers, and Spider-Man is one of my favorite characters, so this is the perfect pairing for me. I especially loved the chase through the city.
I like that they are using Mr. Negative as a villain, he hasn't been used much outside of the comics.

This E3 has been insane. So now we not only get Beyond Good & Evil 2, Rocket League for the Switch and two awesome looking Mario games, but TWO Metroid titles of which one this year already? My inner fanboy is doing 1080's man...
This is a good year for Nintendo.

Is there enough interest for me to start a new thread for the Spider-Man game? I tried one back when the game was first announced and it didn't get a single response. Although I think I did that one in the general SFF forum instead of here.

Sony's presentation was okay - great looking games, but nothing seemed really new. To be expected I guess after a few years in a row of awesome presentations of stuff that is still a ways out.

Nintendo's presentation was short and to the point - new trailers and some gameplay of the 2017 games, a couple new 2018 games, and a couple "now in development" (probably late 2018 at the very earliest) games in Pokemon and Metroid Prime.

Similar to this, Rocket League was announced for Switch (holiday 2017) and is also cross play with PC and Xbox, but not PS4. Again with Sony saying no.

Just saw the Assassin's Creed: Origins trailer, and gameplay. I love the idea of going back to explore the Assassin's and Templars.

Which is interesting given the fact that they've likely thought about it as far back as AC2. In the basement of your house in the villa where you unlock Altair's costume, one of the former assassins they list is egyptian.

Yeah, this does seem to be pretty consistent with what they've established about the game world's history.
The creative director for Spider-Man talked with IGN about the approach they are taking with the game, and the whole Peter Parker/Spider-Man dynamic. It sounds like this one will feature the most non-Spidey Peter of any game yet.
The more I hear or see for this one the better it seems like it will be.

We've also gotten a story trailer and a gameplay video/interview for the new Uncharted game, The Lost Legacy. I'm a huge fan of the Uncharted series, and Chloe and Nadine are great character, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

Once again, E3 proves EA can into neither public relations nor building hype (EAfront II looks nice, but it has to compete against the original Battlefront II, one of the best games on the PS2), and Nintendo knows exactly how into public relations and building hype. They didn't even need to show any gameplay, all they said was 'Metroid Prime 4' and they probably sold a few thousand Switches in the time it took to show that trailer.

Sony's presentation looked good, but a lot of remakes (still, SotC and .hack//GU, yee), and they didn't even show the new Ace Combat 7 trailer, which isn't a good sign for Sony's interest in the series. But it at least looks good, as does one of the (leaked? idk) gameplay videos. Dialogue isn't as cheesy as Ace Combat 5's and the mechanics of play look good, as far as we saw - the person playing was either really bad and hits haven't been added in yet, or a huge chicken and is only good at avoiding missiles. (There's another one that shows what the mission menu looks like and a cutscene, but it plays music over Ace Combat which is Heresy)

Microsoft could have walked away with the xXboneXx had they bothered to show any potential games for it/games worth buying/idk I didn't watch it all.
