it's going to be a very weird E3 this year with it remaining a de facto trade show but also selling tickets to the public and kind-of-but-not-really becoming a public show

also, booth sizes are shrinking as not to say at an all time low and the press conferences are starting on Saturday now (EA) - curious to see how E3 looks like over the course of the next couple of years. at this point, they could ostensibly downsize further or pivot to a more public focused show a la Gamescom

Just a reminder that EA's press conference is today at 12pm PST.

Also, some gameplay footage of Star Wars Battlefront II featuring Maul and Rey has leaked:

EA show was flat for me and I turned It off before the end as I didn't want to watch a whole game of SWBFII (4 really) get played out...

* A Way Out looks interesting for sure and I love co-op. However I'm not a fan of this forced split screen (even when playing online it seems), which the ratio seems to vary.

* I need to know more about Anthem before I can say anything about it.

* I'll get FIFA because that's what I do. That NBA Live game showing only a replay makes me think that game may actually be a mess like some previous titles, not that it bothers me as I don't play American Sport games.

* Need For Speed, I couldn't care less:shrug:

* I was hoping to see more of Visceral's upcoming Star Wars game but it looks like we won't see that until next year. SWBF reboot was a flop for me, it look amazing and sounded almost as good but the gameplay, map design and depth of content was dreadful. It may have more content this time around but I saw nothing to confirm the foundations of gameplay or map design has gotten better. SP story does intrigue me for sure but if you saw BF4 SP then it could end up being a real horror show  I really dislike the whole 3rd person/1st person switching and Heroes classes but they want it to be accessible and to get those pesky kids playing.

Not sure I'm ready to be excited by the new Bioware IP just yet. For one thing, it's a (VERY brief) cinematic trailer which is no basis on which to judge a game. That aside, just in cosmetic terms, the setting and what little one might surmise of the premise seems very derivative of several other games that have come out over that last few years. Like a mash-up of Destiny, Evolve, Horizon Zero Dawn and Titan Fall.
Not that I'm claiming they're ripping anyone off, for all I know they came up with this years ago, but the bottom line is others appear to have gotten there first.

As for BF2: it doesn't seem like much of a substantive improvement over the original, more like what the first game should have been from the get-go. We'll see what the SP campaign has to offer, but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a very pretty 4 hour affair with flashy set pieces but not a lot of depth.

The XB1X will be $/€499 vs $€399 for a PS4 Pro...
A difference of $/€100 for 4k. That market still seems to small right now...
Assassins Creed Origins looks good...

Pretty good showing from Microsoft - but that price... Given the specs though, I completely understand the price point they arrived at.

Original xbox titles on xb1 and x, that means the X will be running four formats in one console, MS really hitting back compat out the park.

Just saw the Assassin's Creed: Origins trailer, and gameplay. I love the idea of going back to explore the Assassin's and Templars.
The trailer for Kingdom Hearts III brought back a lot of memories for me.
Battlefront 2 looks cool.... but so did the first one. I haven't played the first one myself, but I haven't hear anything but bad stuff about it. Hopefully 2 will address the problems people had with the first one and not just slap a campaign and a few new maps and things on the first one.

It's unsurprising that they're doing original Xbox backwards compatibility, since that and the X1 / X1X are x86-based systems. Much easier to emulate across the same architecture than the weird voodoo of the POWER architecture used in the 360 and PS3.

Still not one game that makes me want to run out and buy an Xbox One. Not one. And that's crazy because I was a huge 360 player.

Sea of Thieves was close, but 2018 now? Pfft.

Sony has been killing it, because they have games--exclusive games that are fun!

Zelda sold 100 zillion Switches. Not the Splatoon port, or the Mario Kart port.

Microsoft really needs a game.

Nintendo: No one could come up with a worse name for a console than Wii U.

Microsoft: Hold my beer.

Am I the only one who's brain interpreted "Xbox One X" as "Xbox Onyx"?
I couldn't help but chuckle when the French bloke slipped and almost called it the Xbone-X.

I played the free trial of the original and it wasn't *bad* per see, just very very shallow and terrible value for money.
It still remains to be seen if the campaign is really substantial or just a 4 hour tutorial. On the MP side, I can see the new hero mechanics getting tiresome very quickly. Imagine for a second that you're on a team that starting to loose and the other team starts getting the points to be able to start dropping Maul & Boba Fett on you, who just go around murdering whole groups at a time with no hope of avoiding them or fighting back in a meaningful way. That's going to just get aggravating and what you're going to end up with is people dropping out of the game as soon as the tide turns against them, which just makes it worse for those left behind.

What would improve this I think would be squads of cannon fodder bot players to flesh out the numbers and allow the human players some tactical leeway. Maybe even tie it to the map mechanics with reinforcement points that can be captured and lost where they periodically spawn in.

XB1X has impressive specs but I just feel they are trying too much, too soon and the price tag will keep them behind Sony in a race they are already losing. I won't be buying one because you need a 4K TV of a certain size to get the best from the XB1X and I don't own one. I will stick with my XB1 and PS4 originals ty and will play beefed up games on my PC.

Now as for Sea of Thieves....

TAKE MY GOD DAM MONEY :D
