E3 2015

Final Fantasy VII Remake (please do NOT Advent Childrenify Tifa...keep her as she was in the original FFVII )

Tetsuya Nomura directed Advent Children, is running the remake (seriously, of all the games, FF7 really needed one?) and has proven himself to be completely incompetent at getting a game made. I wouldn't hold your breath.

whoever spends $150 on a controller is a FUCKING IDIOT :scream:

Seriously $150

Well, some people still buy steering wheels and fightsticks and they can be even more expensive...

If a good flight stick is made for air combat games, I'll definitely get one.

When Ace Combat 6 came out on Xbox 360, and there was a package that had the game and the flight stick/thrust module, I think it ran about $150. I bought it quick. I love flight sticks for air combat styled games, and the flight stick was also compatible with Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. and the Apache game that was made for 360. :)

Aye. Well, that's why FFVII Remake is on my "honorable mention" list for anticipated games. I'd love to see it, but I'm not gonna go bonkers to go get it. :)

/\ That image could be applied to a lot of people following Nintendo's presentation yesterday and their reaction to the Metroid game. There's even a petition out there to get it cancelled if you can believe that. Bunch of entitled, whiny brats.

I can certainly understand being upset over the Metroid announcement, but this petition crosses a line into creepy fan territory.

Yeah, Nintendo have really mishandled Metroid of late, which is baffling in a number of ways, but calling for the new instalment to be cancelled isn't the most intelligent way to get the instalment you *do* want.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided! I'm so looking forward to this!

Even though women don't seem to exist in this world. At least not in speaking roles. :p

It does feel strange not having Malik there as your pilot, but I suppose it's possible she has a different role in the game or Eidos are assuming she died in that rooftop shoot out in DEHR. Hopefully the former. I'm assuming this new task force Jensen is working for will turn out to be a nascent UNATCO.

If that's translated the typical way by removing the dollar sign and putting a pound sterling in its place I'm gonna be kinda pissy, but I could see myself paying £89.99 for an all metal customisable controller with extra control inputs. I mean, it's already £50 for a regular controller on its own these days.

As for the extra inputs, with the release of PC games on console like Elite Dangerous I think those four extra paddles on the bottom are necessary for a fluid control experience. Having played it for a bit already, having to click down the sticks to change the control scheme just so I can roll my ship is a bit inelegant. Mapping those functions to the paddles would make it far easier.

Plus, I hope they've sorted out the thumbsticks. On the 360 I spin them around and get fluid movement, but on the one there is a noticeable dead zone in the corners of the analogue sticks - this makes FPS games very directional with a lack of fluid motion when changing direction or moving diagonally. I just hope a tweaked controller sorts this.

Adam Boyes, head of third-party developer relations at PlayStation, told me at E3 that he’s known about Square’s Final Fantasy VII remake for a year. It was a fun secret to keep.

“Our publishers take us through their slates,” he said, recalling a meeting with Square from earlier last year. “When he said ‘FFVII remake’, I said, ‘uhhh excuse me’? At first, I assumed it was the PC one, the PC one wasn’t a remake.

“They said: ‘We’re doing the full one.’

“I was like: ‘Uh that’s going to melt people’s brains. I can’t wait for that moment and we had it on Monday.’”

Sony officials knew about the forthcoming remake for about a year, well before the notorious December announcement of the port of the PC port of the original FFVII to PS4. What was supposed to be a fun announcement about the polished PC version of the ‘97 PSOne classic coming to PS4 became a moment of dashed expectations. Final Fantasy producer Shinji Hashimoto at appeared on stage at the big PlayStation Experience fan event, started introducing something FFVII-related to suddenly-shocked fans... only to then reveal that he was just talking about a PC port, not the long-demanded remake. Fans in the audience seemed bummed. Teased, maybe. Trolled, perhaps. It was unintentional, Boyes said. “You learn with these things."

Aside from Bethesda, pretty underwhelming e3 it was. Was a bit disappointed with the PC e3, it could have been bigger, and better. They should have shown more gameplay rather then turn it into a talk show. They should have also got Bethesda to talk about modding in Fallout 4. Ubisoft's e3 was easily the most pathetic.

Are you telling me that Ubisoft's Just Dance, EAwares Mass Effect Andromeda, console exclusives, PC e3's talk show are things that every person who likes games needs to like? Because I am a PC gamer, and honestly, these things didn't appeal to me whatsoever. Ubisoft directly make fun of any negative feedback they get on their poorly optimised ports, EA doesn't care either way, and Sony and Microsoft only care about whose consoles are better. Sales on the PC platform may be difficult to chart, because 92% of them are digital, but they are significant enough, and probably more then individual consoles. Yet, we PC gamers are given little to no importance, and our game versions are outsourced to some random studio. So, really, nothing other then Bethesda's games and the PC e3's games have been appealing, but the PC e3 was just too boring and tedious.
