E-Book Pricing Alerts

I checked the Simon & Schuster webpage for Star Trek ebooks, and it appears there will be no sale ebooks this month. It advises checking back in August. I don't recall them ever not having some ebooks on sale. What's up with that?

“All Good Things…”, perhaps?

Amazon could still discount some, like they have in the past. And they have their Prime Week coming up.

I feel like they always seem to discount books that have been discounted before, too; I can't remember the last time they offered anything I was looking for (although to be fair, there is quite a large pile to choose from, and I'm picky).

I remember not too long ago there was a month or two where Amazon kept putting seemingly random Trek novels at $1.99 for a day, maybe two, and then bumping them back up to regular price (and discounting some others, again for just a short period). I managed to get quite a few of the ones that I still didn’t have during that month or so.

They're really going to make me pay a crazy kindle price for Titan: Sword of Damocles, aren't they?
I keep waiting for Dave Stern's Enterprise novel Rosetta to go on sale. As much as I want it I'm not paying $15.99 for an ebook. That's just crazy. It's the only Star Trek novel I've seen priced that high.

for sure - I look on the amazon page and I see 'Mass Market Paperback purchased on Jan 22, 2006'.

It's the only Star Trek novel I've seen priced that high.
Sorting my Amazon.ca list from highest to lowest price, I've got:
These Haunted Seas at $35.99, which kind of makes sense because it's an omnibus however it's only two novels, both of which I have individually and both of which I got on sale.
The Continuing Missions Vol. I at $25.99. Also an omnibus or anthology.
TNG Technical Manual at $24.99 which I don't find too absurd but which I am also not yet willing to pay.
Seven Deadly Sins at $24.99 which seems high for a short story collection.
The Sky's The Limit at $22.99, another expensive anthology.
Terok Nor: Dawn of the Eagles at $22.99, the one book of the three that hasn't gone on sale.
Klingon BOP Haynes Manual at $21.99 for the Kindle version but isn't published by Pocket so it might never go on sale.
SNW Asylum at $20.99 which makes sense because it is new.
SNW Toward the Night at $20.99, see above.
SNW Ring of Fire at $20.99, see above.
Titan Sword of Damocles at $19.99 for no good reason at all since every other Titan book has been on sale.
TOS Burning Dreams at $19.99 for no readily apparent reason.
New Frontier No Limits at $19.99, reasonable for an anthology and probably worth it but I want to pay less for this.
The Academy: Collision Course at $19.99 because it's a Shatner book?
TOS Constellations at $19.99 for an anthology, no idea if this one would be a good buy at this price.
TOS Unspoken Truth at $19.99, second MWB book to be stuck at a high price. Is it because she is no longer with us? I have noticed Tom Clancy and Anne Rice books don't tend to go on sale either.
TNG A Time to Harvest at $19.99, no idea why.
TOS Cast No Shadow at $19.99, no idea why.
TNG A Time to Heal at $18.99, others in this series have been on sale before.
TNG Genesis Force at $18.99. All the other Genesis Wave books have been on sale.
TOS Harm's Way at $18.99, I think this is new-ish but it has been on my wishlist for 3 years now.
TNG Pliable Truths at $18.99, also new-ish.
Enterprise Logs at $17.99, probably a decent price for an anthology.
The Captain's Table 1-6 Omnibus is only $13.99 which is a fantastic price for six novels in one big book.

It’s interesting that they seem to have handled it by extending the June sales though. According to last month’s version of the sale page, the June sales were supposed to end on June 29, yet as of today, they’re still going. So they technically do still have sales on in July (at least so far), they are just the same books from June.

I’m not going to worry about the monthly sales being over for good, until we have more than one month to go on. IIRC, this isn’t the first month they’ve ever skipped. In fact, wasn’t there a time at the start of a year a few years ago when they skipped the first two or three months? I was worried they were over then, but they still came back.

Who knows, maybe it’s something as mundane as the person who normally sets the sales was on vacation at the “wrong” time, and they didn’t have any backup. Working in a corporate environment, this wouldn’t surprise me at all!

Not novels, but comics... Humble Bundle is partnering with IDW again with the Star Trek Comics Megabundle, in support of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. It's a big bundle with 93 items in total. It includes a lot of older titles, but also includes some more recent ones, such as:
  • The first three collected volumes of the recently-concluded Star Trek series
  • The first three collected volumes of the recently-concluded Defiant series
  • SNW: The Illyrian Enigma
  • The initial Lower Decks miniseries (not the current ongoing series)
  • Lower Decks: Warp Your Way
  • Sons of Star Trek
  • Resurgence
  • Picard's Academy: Commit No Mistakes
All 93 items are available for as little as... well, in C$, it's $32.78, which I guess should be somewhere around US$24.

The bundle will be available for just under 21 days now, if you're interested.

Thanks for the heads-up. There were 8 or 9 that I didn't already have. $29 was a great price to add those to my tablet!

ETA: It's actually 24 that I didn't have. I'm only missing SNW: The Scorpius Run. This is an awesome value.

Hopefully it's not the full slate (but with what's going on at S&S, who knows?), but it looks like the August sales are starting to trickle out on Amazon Canada. This is what I'm seeing so far, all $1.99:

TOS #11: Yesterday's Son
TOS: Spock's World
TOS: No Time Like the Past

I believe all have previously been offered in the monthly sales before.

I'm seeing ( < $5):

Spock's World
Yesterday's Son
No Time Life the Past
Seven of Nine
Rising Son
The More Things Change
Q are Cordially Uninvited
Objective Bajor
Strike Zone
The Stuff of Dreams
The Quiet Place
Miasma
Shadow of the Machine
