Someone gave me a book.

But alas it is in the form of a .lit-file.

Anyone in this forum know where I might find a free reader or -preferably- software for conversion into, say, txt?

^Thanks!

Works like a charm :) :) :)

ETA:
I didn't know ".lit" was an archive! -I tried opening it in a .txt editor -was readable but not something I'd like to read a whole novel of

Thats good, just figured I'd mention it for future reference. I think the newer version might have the ability to convert, at the very least the site said it had the ability to covert Doc files into your own .lit files.

^Sounds good, but I was actually looking for something that would convert the other way 'round: from .lit into some other format.

I'll have to keep an eye on that MS .lit-reader -might come in handy at some point.

I discovered calibre (free). It can open multiple types of files (including html, mobi, lit and others) and you can even read the book in it's built in viewer. I can read it on the computer, or send it to my blackberry (using the free mobipocket reader) or on my itouch (with stanza).

It's capable of doing much more, but I've only scratched the surface.
