Fucking cancer...

The friend and wife of a dying "Star Trek" fan have both made an impassioned and heartbreaking plea on Reddit: to let the man see at least the 10-minute preview of "Star Trek Into Darkness":
“My amazing healthy film buff husband diagnosed with leukemia (CML) at 38 had to endure 3 rounds of chemo before they found a bone marrow donor match had a Bone Marrow Transplant, which was MORE chemo, full body radiation & lots of other horrific things….then endured/survived 3 major infections + a massive GI bleed that put him in the hospital 10+ times over 3 1/2 years not to mention 100′s of doctors visits…. he is my hero; I am his caregiver – I would do anything to help him…. he is now ravaged by a new TOTALLY UNRELATED cancer, (isn’t that a fucker?) an aggressive and EXTREMELY rare vascular tumor that is crowding out his healthy liver tissue… they grew under treatment; there is nothing left to do but make him comfortable, at 41, he is jaundice & his liver is enlarged, his body has had enough, he has weeks to live.[...]“ Sure enough, it gained enough traction that people went out of their way to plead to Bad Robot, J.J. Abrams’ production company, to make the dying man’s dream come true.
JJ Abrams himself just contacted my friend's wife about screening ST2. Thanks to everyone. A little misty-eyed here.
Thanks everyone, and a huge thanks to OP ideeyut for posting this. JJ Abrams just called Dan's wife and left a message. He's going to try to arrange a screening for Dan, either of the film or at least of the 9 minute promo reel.

Hopefully the fan gets a full screening of the film.

Fuck cancer. :(

A truly classy thing to do for this gentleman. Nice job Mr. Abrams!

Fuck you cancer.

That is awesome. I don't mean to sound harsh though, but you can understand why they might turn this sort of request down, you just know you would get people trying to abuse it.

If this happends I will never say anything bad about JJ Abrams again and I wont even care if he puts a billion lens flares in the movie!

Trekmovie now also has an article up.

TrekMovie has confirmed that they reached out to the family and are working on a plan to get this fan some kind of screening.
Of course the film itself is not actually in a complete form. For example at the recent Bad Robot event, composer Michael Giacchino confirmed he hasn’t recorded any music beyond what was needed for the nine minute preview.
However, TrekMovie has been told that some kind of "rough form" of the film will be screened for the dying fan sometime soon.

He is a hero. Star Trek has always brought hope to humanity. Good luck, friend, never lose hope

That is wonderful that he will get a chance to see this. Way to go, J.J., and everyone at Bad Robot.

Also, fuck cancer.
