DVD Screengrab software

I'm looking to rip a screen cap every 10 seconds or so from a DVD, sort of like what Trekcore has.

Anyone have any suggestions of some software that does this?

I've just done something like that -If I could just remember what software I was checking out at the time... must've been some DVD authoring thing... I think...

^That sounds interesting TheGallifreyanSith!

Meanwhile I've remembered what I did:

Drag the VOB file into Media Player Classic.
File > Save Thumbnails...
Specify how many by how many thumbnails you want and the width of the image you want to make

The result is something like this:

(Click thumbnail for full 1024x838 pxl 197 kb image)

Right click while playing a video and look for Options and select Advanced Menu. Right click again and look for Capture. Looks like all of the Capture options are there.

Also, you can hit Ctrl+G.

I use it for animated avatars. Having it capture every three frames seems to do the trick.

VLC Player does it for free (VideoLAN). This is the only video viewing software one should use, IMO. It plays most everything (even without codecs).

There's also a much better software if you have the file in .avi form called VirtualDubMod. You can go frame by frame with the arrow keys with this software (Ctrl+1 copies the picture) and then I layer the frames in Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0. This is what I use for my .gifs (see left).

Have a look in the SciTech forum. There's a sticky with literally dozens of free Windows apps, I'm pretty sure there's screencaps s/w in there.
