DST Star Trek TOS Science Tricorder Review

Klingon Empire

Captain
Captain
Okay, here with another TOS DST Review is Klingon Empire, back from my abscense. So I got the Tricorder for my Birthday, and it is a GREAT TOY! Probably one of the best DST Toys yet. Anyways, onto the review!

BOX
What did the box look like?

Nice box. Pretty standard for a DST box. Much like the Phaser box, except for it being a mass production model and not a Toys R us Exclusive. It is window boxing, so no fancy box art here. I like this box because it displays the Tricorder nicely.

THE TOY
My Review of the Toy Itself

This Toy is beautiful. It will have any TOS Fan going  over it at first site. It has sounds and phrases right off the show. It comes packed with a Science Scanner, cause this is the Science Tricorder. It has a spinning Morre Disk and a nicely done shoulder strap.

The second opening flap is a storage bin for your Scanner and it also holds the battery Case, very nice. The only thing I don't feel comfortable with is the scanner when in storage, it jumps around pretty easily and has potential to be broken.

The Tricorder screen is from The Arena, and has a nicely done graphic. Pressing the first of three buttons activates the Callback feature. Turn it on, close the Tricorder, wait a few seconds and Viola! The Tricorder calls you back and plays a phrase.

The next button is the scan feature. Open the first door below the screen and turn it on. Now watch the Morre effect! The third button is the phrases, there are a lot of them, and I have not commited them to memory yet, so I cannot tell you what they are.

Take the scanner out of the second compartement and flip the On/Off switch. This turns the scanner on and displays a cool light show from a small circle in the tip.

Great toy, I highly reccomend.

I'm jealous! I want the tricorder set, it's $90 on amazon though, and it only includes the tricoder and the communicator.

Well, like I said, I got it at TRU for my Birthday. It was $39.99. I also recently got the Communicator, which was $24.99.

I,ve got the phaser communicator and new tricorder, my collection is now complete. Have 2 say they are cool with the sounds and are very well made . just the medical tricorder to get now .

I want to get all the toys, but I just blew $190 on the three seasons, Star Trek merch is expensive! I also spent another $80 on my TOS costume, for just the dress! Ridiculous, but I must have them! x.x It's such a bad obsession.

I bought the Tricorder too - it's pretty awesome, and the "rattling scanner" issue can be fixed pretty easily. All you have to do is cut out some black storage foam (like the kind people line camera or projector cases with) in the shape of the scanner, and nestle it in there. You can get the scanner out easily, but the foam holds it firmly in place and protects it from damage. :)

Sweet! Thanks for the tip, that rattling was driving me crazy.
