After some months of thinking it over, I've reached the conclusion that if there's a story from the DSC novels to be adapted to TV? I would put this one at the top of such a list at this point in time. I understand the odds of that happening, but this is what I'd like to be done.
While we probably shouldn't rule anything out, I still wouldn't hold my breath about such a thing occurring. Of a more relevant nature, given Disco's new setting in its third season, and indications from the production staff that this new setting is permanent, I should think it very difficult to impossible to adapt this or any of the other Disco novels as episodes of the show.

Speaking strictly for myself, I do not care to see visually how a small group of people wipes out half of their own colony with phaser rifles. The only non-contradicted Discovery novel that comes close to being a decent choice for adaptation to the screen is Fear Itself. I'd rather have the TV show doing its thing and merely taking inspiration from the books sometimes like "Where No One Has Gone Before."

Aren't huge phaser cannons used in the book to do the people-killin' (during the amphitheater-sequence)? But yeah, I could see a quick cutaway or something of a non-graphic nature (where maybe the characters listen to the phasers being fired from a distance) in that type of scene, rather than something so explicit.

Really liked this one, well done @Dayton Ward.

Is the ending indicative of a Prime Lorca in the Mirror Universe novel is in the works?

Now that the upcoming Pike TV show is officially a thing, I'm wondering if anything involving
Prime Lorca
is on hold as far as the novels go, until it's seen what the new onscreen series does first.

I've been wondering about that too. Once we found out Discovery was going to the 30th century, I thought that would clear the books to pick up on that thread, but SNW does add a new complication.

Very belatedly getting back to the Betazed aspect of things, particularly the Federation-Betazed history aspect, for a moment...

Okay, first contact between the Federation and Betazed happening within a decade prior to Tarsus IV, not an issue. The Betazoids' alleged attempt to keep their telepathic abilities to themselves seems doomed on its face, especially depending on how long the Federation/Starfleet people had been keeping watch on that system, and how much access to Betazoid civil communications was possible, how much content from that access was archived by the surveillance/scouting teams, prior to official contact.

I just finished this novel and there was one thing I wondered about:
The Governor is a woman called Gisela Ribiero - at least in the german version. Memory Beta lists her as "Gisela Ribeiro". Is this correct and is there a mistake in the german translation?
There is a "Gisela Ribiero" in Vanguard Volume 4, also written by Dayton Ward.
They can't be the same person, because in Vanguard she is just a young Ensign.
Just a conincidence? Or does Dayton like this name?

Why is everyone hot for Prime Lorca? If alive, would he not be in the Mirror Universe?

Seems obvious that is exactly where he is.

And we know there's precedent for it. An ion storm caused the Enterprise crew to exchange places with their MU counterparts ("Mirror, Mirror"). Mirror Lorca was transported to the prime universe ALSO by an ion storm. So logically, his counterpart must also have reached the MU by the same storm.

And yeah, Admiral Cornwell thinks her Lorca is dead, but if the Lorcas are anything alike, Prime Lorca probably has survival skills on par with his counterpart...

@StefanM, as for the dueling Giselas, why not just ask @Dayton Ward? He's a member here.
