DS9's Best Delivered Line(s)

Kira, to Quark: "If all your little advertisements aren't purged from the systems by the time I get back from the gamma quadrant, I will come to Quark's and believe me, I will have fun."

Oo, speaking of Quark abuse, that reminds me of a Sisko favorite of mine from 'Business As Usual.'

You'd better hope there isn't a next time mister. I have cut you a lot of slack in the past. I even looked away once or twice when I could have come down hard on you, but those days are over. Now we may not get you for selling weapons, but you so much as litter on the Promenade, and I will nail you to the wall!

I can't remember the exact quote, but Ziyal tells Dukat how much she likes Garak and he says "You have no idea how much it pains me to hear you say that".

A favorite of mine that I had cause to quote a little while earlier here on the boards.

Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people – as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts... deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers... put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time... and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people will become as nasty and violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces, look at their eyes...
I always sit up and listen to that statement.

I didn't like that episode, it was straying too far from a future where we are supposed to have evolved somewhat. Unfortunately that episode painted a very bad picture of future humans.

I love Garak's tirade against Ezri, I thought it was priceless.

Absolutely fantastic dialogues include Garak, my favourite, from In The Pale Moonlight!!

Sisko: Who's watching Tolar?

Garack: I've locked him in his quarters. I've also left him with the distinct impression that if he attempts to force open the door, it may... explode.

Sisko: I hope that's just an impression

Gar: It's best not to dwell on such minutiae

Gold absolute freaking gold

In Emissary, when Sisko meets Kira for the first time, Kira says, "I suppose you want the office."

Sisko's reply is perfectly delivered. "Well, I thought I'd say hello first and then take the office, but we could do it in any order you'd like."

BOTH priceless!

I also like Damar's "resistance" speech, and his exchange with Weyoun 7 about the "transporter accident"...

Humans are humans. I don't care how much evolved the culture becomes, back a human into a corner and he WILL come out fighting.

There's fighting and then there's turning bat-sh*t crazy and wearing a necklace of ketracel whites as a trophy. This wasn't a part of Gene Rodenberry's vision. People are down on Rick Berman but sometimes the DS9 writers went too far and I'm glad Berman intervened ocassionally. Hated the original idea that Nog would lose both legs, thank goodness Berman put a stop to that.

War does things to people, physically and emotionally.

Berman was a fool to intervene. His "don't rock the boat" ideas are what led to the stagnation of TNG/VOY and S1-3 of ENT. The more he stayed out of DS9, the better it got.

Well I think DS9 went a little too far sometimes, especially with this episode.
Its 300 years in the future, we are supposed to be mor evolved, more psychologically advanced. We're not supposed to crumble into psycopaths at the first sign of trouble!

Well, I wouldn't exactlt call the stuff happening in "The Siege of AR-558" the first sign of trouble...

On-topic:
"Go over my head again, and I'll have yours on a platter."
When Sisko was possessed by Joran Dax he delivered his lines in a very creepy way.
Also, anything Garak sais is usually great.
And "IT'S A FAAAKE!"

None of them were psychpaths...they were just frayed around the edges, and had been on the sharp end of the sword for months and months without releif.

You put ANY biological creature in that sort of continuous stress for that long a time and they WILL show it.

The human race has been around for tens of thousands of years, but we still have trouble getting past our instinctual and animal-like behavioural responses, particularly during times of stress. GR's idea may be a nice one, but 300 years isn't going to make that much of a difference on the evolution of the human mind, I think Quark was right on the money in his speech.

Agreed. War is hell. Anyone who tries to tell you different doesn't know what they're talking about - ask a veteren. 'Seige of AR-558' is all about how pointless it is. Look at that place - take away that sensor array and NO ONE would be fighting over it. But because of one piece of tactical technology, everyone wants it.

Not to mention, it is NOT 'crumbling into psychopaths at the first sign of trouble' - These are people who have been under long term stress - the Houdini mines could be anywhere and you won't know it until you've suddenly been blow into a sticky paste, the Jem'Hadar never sleep, so they could attack at any time. Those troops had been there for months with no relief. They've watched people they've stood with, fought with, cared about, and even hated die for that entire time.

Three hundred or three thousand years from now, I would expect human beings to react much like what we saw in that episode under those circumstances.

"Do you know what the sad part is, Odo? I'm a very good tailor." is one of my favorite Garak lines. Though off the top of my head, if I had to pick a favorite for delivery, I'd have to use this one from The Sis-ko

"So, this is a huge victory for the good guys! It may just be the turning point of the entire war! There's even a "Welcome to the Fight" party tonight in the wardroom!... So... I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover up the crimes of other men. I was an accessory to murder. But most damning of all... I think I can live with it... And if I had to do it all over again... I would. Garak was right about one thing – a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I'll learn to live with it...Because I can live with it...I can live with it. Computer – erase that entire personal log."

Especially the last 2 lines.

I love the way Sisko spits out "How about... Dominion puppet?" as a suggestion for Dukat's new rank.

Even though I love many of Damar's lines (my fav character), my personal fav from the whole show is this from Garak in the episode 'Second Skin':

Garak: This is an Alpha Red priority mission, clearance verification 9218
Black. By authority of the Central Command, you are ordered to turn your ships
around, erase all records of this encounter from your logs and talk of it to
no-one. Is that clear?
Computer: (bleeping) Clearance code verified.
Benil: My apologies. I had no idea.
Garak: You were doing your duty. End transmission. (sighs)
Sisko: Mr. Garak, I'm impressed.
Garak: It was just something I overheard while I was hemming someone's
trousers.
