DS9 withdrawal.

I'm watching the episodes on dvd right now. It is actually the first time I have watched it, I used to watch the occasional episode, but now I'm hooked. I have just been ordering them off of amazon, until a few weeks ago when they raised prices (they are back down now) so I ordered from a site called DeepDiscount.com, on the 10th. I had two discs left of season 3 and felt that it would either arrive before I finished or slightly after. Its been almost a week since I watched my last episode. I seriously feel like there is a void in my life, I used to come home from work and watch an episode or two. Sunday's were like ds9 day for me I watched 4-5 episodes. Picard just isn't cutting it, I WANT SEASON 4! (on a side note I will never order from that site again, they were slow in every step of the procedure, slow to bill, slow to ship it out, picked a slow carrier.)

Has anyone else had to deal with this or a similar situation for DS9 or any other show?

I can relate to the "Picard just doesn't cut it point". After having seen DS9, I can't watch any other modern Trek show without constantly thinking: "Argh...DS9 is sooooooooooo much better, it makes this other modern Trek show very difficult to watch! Why aren't I just watching DS9 instead?"

That will also be the bad side of there being any new Trek show or movie IMO. If it doesn't measure up to DS9's very high standards (it being able to is highly unlikely IMO), then it too will be ver hard to watch. DS9 has set the bar as high as it can possibly be, which is kind of a double-edged sword because it can jade the viewer to be unable to enjoy lesser products of the same brand.

I am in such a good mood, it came in the mail today. The Way of the Warrior - amazing episode. I am so glad to see Worf on DS9, that battle scene was intense.

Im seeing TOS for the first time so I can relate.

When I watched the others to catch up I raced through them so fast that I think I failed to savour them, so Im going through TOS real slow.

It only gets better from season 4, though anything from 3 is good.

THe Kilingon crap is a bit of a distraction but was nessicary and they tied it in nicely to the dominion story (dominion trying to divide and conquer), wait untill the dominion arcs kick in then you will really be hooked! The best enemy ST ever had

It's pretty much impossible for me to watch an episode of TNG or VOY now, after DS9.

Except for Redemption, Chain of Command etc....

All political/military based stuff. I just prefer it.

Oh yes, I was in the same situation when I started to watch Voyager.

At that time, none of the stations I have aired the show (they started with that some months later)so I had to borrow the VHS tapes from a shop which was renting VHS tapes for a little sum of money.

After watching "Caretaker" I was hooked. I eremember taking every excuse possible to go down to the shop and borrow a tape.

When I had finished season 1 and was waiting for them to get season 2, one of my TV stations did start airing the show so I could watch the episodes again and tape them! :techman:

The problems started when I had watched all episodes of season 2 on borrowed tapes and the local station was about to air the last seasons 1 episodes before taking a break in the airing of the show during that summer. I had to wait six long horrible months before having the chance to watch season 3. Six long horrible months before finding out what had happened to the crew, stranded on that planet.

It was terrible! :scream:
