DS9 Vs. Voyager ... with a twist of lemon!

Lately, I've been finding myself going back to "Take Me Out to a Holosuite," which is such a lovely gem that I find myself recommending it to non-Trekkies.

And here's where Voyager comes in. A friendly little rivalry, of course, just for laughs and the pleasure of each crew interacting in a warm Starfleet family. (and thus, just like the spirit of the episode, any berating or ranting or general mean-spiritedness is grounds for Odo to eject you from the game!)

So here they are: Sisko and his original Niners (including, of course, the mighty Rom) take on Janeway and her (insert team name here). Janeway has her main crew as well as any friendly supporting characters she needs to fill out the team roster. Odo is once again the umpire.

And I also present two scenarios to you:
-DS9 Vs. Voyager
-Mix and match the teams and have them face off!

What hijinks ensue?

(oh, and since this game is in the Holosuite, the Doctor is solid. And not just in a jive 1970s way)

Well since Sisko had to teach everyone baseball, i don't think Janeway and crew would do to well.
Only hijinks i can see is Janeway putting a big pinch of chew in her mouth since she can't smoke and play baseball at the same time.

Much as I'm loathe to admit it, but the two crews could very well be about evenly matched.

Sure, the Niners have more experience with baseball, but the Gilligans (What? I think it's an entirely appropriate name for the Voyagers) could make up for it with their "genetically superior" team-members.

While DS9 has Worf's Klingon strength and Bashir's genetic enhancements to count on, Voyager's got Seven's Borg enhanced strength and Tuvok's Vulcan bad-assery. Not to mention the holographic doctor, not having an actually physical needs, would probably never get tired, sprain something and have acute accuracy.

This could of course be balanced out by the Niner's secret weapons, The Siskos, who have extensive knowledge and experience playing baseball.

Too close to call I'd say. :(

yeah, also most of the Voyager crew look much more adept at learning new physical abilities than, say, Quark or *gasp* Rom. The only potential klutz Voyager has is Neelix.

And B'Elanna's half Klingon, so that's another Voyager player with more stamina than a puny Human :D

Really? I considered that but she never really displayed any more superior strength or skills than the average human on the series, so I guess she just ended up in the shallow end of the gene pool and her being half-Klingon doesn't count as an advantage.

And come on, Harry's got to be the biggest klutz in Starfleet, constantly getting into strife. And Paris wasn't exactly in tip-top shape by the end of the series anyway.

And while we know Rom wasn't the greatest player around, we never really saw Quark in action, and since he made The Sisko's team he's probably a fairly decent player. I won't argue the case of Rom though, you got me there.

I'd assume Seven is pitching for the Voyagers, in which case I'm figuring she'd be throwing some vicious curve balls, what with all the spacial acuity Borgifications and all that jazz. I'm figuring she's pitching a no-hitter. Sure, someone like Sisko might catch a piece of a curve and land himself a double, if he's lucky, but the next batter gets struck out and so nothing ever comes of it.

Voyagers: 21
Niners: 0

I disagree. If the Niners can take on a team of Vulcans and beat the spread, I'm pretty sure they can score at least once against Voyager :)

Um, the Niners lost the game against the Vulcans.

The niner's would have the edge in terms of players that have actually played... Ben, Jake, Nog and Kassidy.

Also, the niner's lost to a team of vulcan's that had been practicing for a while. if voyager just put together a pick up group, i dont think they'd come close to the niner's level because of the complete lack of experience.

being stronger or more athletic doesnt mean you are more competant than others with experience. but if you dont got the skills, you won't pay the bills.

Yeah, but the expectation was that the Niners wouldn't be able to score a single hit. But they did, they scored one lone hit. They defied expectations. They beat the spread :)

In Voyager's favor there was Tom Paris with his passion for 20th century history. The VOY crew may have had some tricks up there sleeve...janeway would insist.

Maybe the Niners could get Seven disqualified as a pitcher on the grounds that nanoprobes are a "foreign substance". :D

Team Voyager would probably win.

But winning and losing doesn't matter to the Niners, because it's more about friendship and bonding.

I'd say the games goes into extra innings with Janeway and Co. winning by way of Seven's expert pitching and stamina wearing "The Siskos"
