DS9 Shark Jumping

DS9 never jumped the shark. The only thing about DS9 that I don't like is the Dukat/Kai Winn thing in season 7.

I don't know that they painted themselves into a corner. It's pretty easy to just not cast any female Ferengi.

That's precisely what I mean. US TV standards didn't allow them to show typical female Ferengi characters without some plot device to make them atypical, or choosing not to use them at all.

Was there ever moment where you though DS9 almost jumped the shark? Or perhaps there was a point where you did think it jumped the shark and went down hill in quality...

Or, being such the DS9 fan you are did you think it never came close?

Rob

No, I don't think it ever did. As a series, IMHO, it just kept getting stronger right until the end (the only exception being S3 which I think is weaker than S2).
However, as with all Trek shows, you do have to accept that there are some really bad episodes in the mix. The best thing you can do with those is just to pretend they don't exist. Meridian, Let He Who Is Without Sin and some of the Ferengi episodes are like that.

DS9 just got better and better, I can't think of a single time I thought it jumped the shark

Jumping the shark and DS9 simply do not go together in my book... There were poor episodes (anything with Quark's mother or the Grand Nagus made me cringe), but I never felt the quality of the show overall was decreasing.
