DS9 Paragrapgh thingy

Okay..we've done one word and five word thingys...now...the biggy!! The Paragraph thingy....just make your paragraph normal size. No five page paragraphs....

Captain Benjamin Sisko strolled along the Promenade, on his way to his morning briefing with the station's chief of security; Odo. As Sisko made his way, he was pleased to see that, for the most part, everyone seemed to be in a jovial mood. That was, until he saw Quark coming his way. Somehow, someway, Sisko knew that Quark was not having a good day.

Quark, for his part, was quite angry with the fact that Odo has pushed through a change in the operating hours on the Promenade. That did not sit will with the Feringi business owner.

It sat rather poorly with the entire Promenade Merchant's Association, in fact. Even Vedek Tonsa, who ran the temple, and was not a merchant by any stretch of the imagination, disapproved. Quark, as self-appointed President of the aforementioned association, had been given the responsibility of bringing their 47 page list of grievances to Captain Sisko's attention.

(I love the use of the number 47)

"Commander Sisko," Quark said. "I think you should have this."

"Ahh," Sisko said, as he sipped from a cup of coffee in his left hand, "I was wondering when I'd get a copy of this."

Sisko saw the lable on the data chip. Vulcan Love Slave #2.

"No," Quark said as he took it back and replaced it with another, "this!"

The second chip was labled '47 things we hate about the new hours.'

"You'll note that it's been signed by everyone in the Merchant's Association, and I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Morn has started a petition. Expect to see that on your desk before the week is over," Quark informed him.

"Very well, I'll give the matter some serious consideration," Sisko replied. "But Quark, please don't refer to me as 'Commander' Sisko again. I did get promoted, you know."

'I'm sorry, Com- Captain, its been so recent it slipped my mind, I do hope you'll forgive me. Have a good day.'

Quark carried on. Surprised, Sisko shrugged, and continued along the Promenade with a smile on his face, until he passed the Infirmary.

Bashir's voice cut through the air; "now look here, Garak!" He snapped down on the Cardassian's name, evidently having lost patience with the enigmatic tailor. Sisko paused, concerned. Either Garak was once again frustrating Bashir's efforts to help him- Sisko hadn't forgotten the incident with the brain implant- or Bashir had allowed himself to be pulled into one of the Cardassian's schemes- also not for the first time- and had only now worked it out. Either way, Sisko acknowledged grimly, if Garak's involved it's something I need to be aware of. Setting his jaw, he turned into the infirmary and almost walked right into Garak himself. The Cardassian flipped Sisko a smile that was far too much hassle to bother decoding.

"My good doctor," Garak intoned. "It was only..."

Before Garak could finish the sentence, the station shook and the red alert sounded. Kira's voice came over the com. "Ops to Sisko. We're under attack!"

When Sisko came to ops, he found the entire command crew at their normal posts. And, up on the large Cardassian view screen, was the image of several Klingon vessels. Almost instantly the image of Martok, Sisko's Klingon friend, and commander of the Klingon fleet, appeared on the screen.

"Captain Sisko," Martok barged. "Lower your shields...immediately!!!"

Sisko made no effort to hide his surprise.
"Martok, what is this?"
"Don't play the fool with me," Matrok growled, "We know you're in secret talks with the Dominion".
"General, I can assure you tha-"
Before Sisko could finish, the ships began an attack on the station.
"Captain, more ships approaching," said Dax, and looking up, "Benjamin, they're Jem'Hadar".

Meanwhile, as the ship began to quake as the battle began, Dr. Bashir sprang into action to make sure that his medical staff was prepared for the eventual casualties.

"Make sure," Bashir told his nurses, "that you stay sharp. Don't slack for one second."

His nurses nodded and went about preparing their med-kids.

--
Quark could only shake his head in disgust as his customers, mainly starfleet personal, began to file out of his bar. Even Morn, who downed his last shot-glass, stood and left. And in mere seconds, Quark was all alone with two scantily clad Dabo-girls looking at him with blank expressions on their faces.

Attacking outside DS9 was the impervious ships of the Moronadane fleet with each opening fire on the pilons where one is coming free. Still as the fighting continued the graviton bolts were locked and keep pilon #2 connected. DS9 was beginning to feel the dispersion of particle disruptions in the main ops section of DS9.
