DS9 Fibre Optic Model

Has anyone on the site attempted to build the DS9 Model which includes the fibre optics. I've seen some great completed ones online that simply look amazing once complete - especially in a darkened room.

I do actually own it but after opening it up - and never having built one before - it does seem rather difficult.

I built the Enterprise D fibre optic kit when I was about 13*, it was hellishly difficult, but worth it. I imagine the DS9 one would be even more tricky due to the shape of the station, trying to weave the fibre optics through the Cardassian architecture.

*Blimey that was 22 years ago.:alienblush:

You might get more replies over in the Fan Art forum. I know we have many modellers who frequent it. If you like I can move this thread over there. Of course I am perfectly happy to leave it here if that's your preference. Just say the word!

That sounds cool. I'm sure you can do it just go slow, do s little bit everyday and do it carfully. It will be so cool when you finish it!
I'm jealous.
I'd love to have stuff like that but I live in a pretty small house and I don't like clutter.

I built this about 20 years ago. However I haven't looked at it in about 10 years, as it was put into a box to move years ago, and I just never unpacked it. But I remember that it wasn't really that bright, aside from the core, since the bulb was in the core, and then once the light got to the outside of the station, it wasn't that bright anymore.

But I do remember that at the time Shreddies cereal had the Star Trek TNG starships in the cereal boxes, and I had got a couple of Enterprise-D's, so I glued one of the D's onto an upper pylon.
