Game DS9 Episode Pitch Game

The premise:

It's the 1990s, and you've been invited to pitch an episode for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. (How exciting!)

Rules
1) Your episode must be something that could have appeared on DS9 when it originally aired (think 1990s TV).
2) After you write your synopsis, you get to choose the title of the next one.
3) Titles must be DS9 style - Bible/Shakespeare/literature/poetry quotes/allusions, mysterious science fiction, historical references, phrases etc (if we may not get the reference, please tell us where it comes from)
4) Sequels to real DS9 episodes are allowed.
5) Include both A and B stories, where applicable.

I'll start: "The Outsider" - Doctor Bashir and Jadzia Dax attempt to help a Trill symbiont that wishes not to be joined with a host, but still travel and live outside the pool. Meanwhile, Jake Sisko attends a writer's group meeting and is met with disdain by the intellectual snobbery of its members.

"An Acquired Taste" (Set after "Armageddon Game")

(A note. This one kind of got away from me. Sorry. It's a very mild idea for an episode, and I don't have a B-plot to juice it up. Maybe one of those simple danger-of-the-week situations that Voyager was so fond of. )

Much to his own surprise, Miles finds that he is actually beginning to warm to Julian, to even enjoy his company. He becomes quite annoyed at himself and actively tries to sabotage the fledgling friendship. But when he passive-aggressively makes fun of Julian, he sees the truth that he has really hurt him. As the others hear about what happened, they each (at different times, and not in a coordinated way) begin to share little anecdotes about Julian with Miles, including Jadzia's recollection that Julian truly admires the Chief, and struggled to help him maintain his dignity. (In "Rivals".) Miles finds Julian in the infirmary facing away and unaware that Miles has entered. We see Miles want to apologize, but hesitates and then clearly changes his mind. He turns to leave when Bashir notices him and earnestly asks if he's alright. Miles hesitates again and then simply asks Julian if he'd like to have lunch. Julian is slightly surprised but his face quickly shifts to happiness and he accepts.

"Scars of the Past" - Kira's brothers visit DS9, and when they reminisce, they remember their experiences in the refugee camps very differently. They try to reconcile their impressions of what happened. Meanwhile, while exploring a section of DS9 that's been cordoned off and unused for years, Jake and Nog find a diary and attempts to locate its writer.

"Jericho"

During the Dominion War, Starfleet is suffering heavy loses and needs more support. The Andorian Imperial Guard had notably withheld forces, unhappy with the way Starfleet was handling the war and arguing they couldn't trust Andor's defense to them. Sisko is sent to plead to the Andorians for more support as the Dominion mounts an offensive into Andorian space. Starfleet diverts resources away from Earth's defense, potentially leaving Earth vulnerable while the Vulcan Expeditionary Fleet also commits vessels from their own reserve. Ultimately, the Dominion attack on Andor is pushed back and with the heroism of Starfleet and the Vulcan fleet, Andor agrees to integrate more of the Imperial Guard into Starfleet service.

I misunderstood the format at first, but actually the episode title still works... the Battle of Andor can be somewhat analagous to the Battle of Jericho, the Andorians contributing more to the war effort after "the walls of Jericho" fall, so to speak.

"IT TAKES TWO"

Quark is putting his place back together again after the events of Body Parts when a familiar face presents itself. After two years in the Gamma Quadrant, Pel is back with an amazing opportunity for Quark. A comedy episode full of set-backs, mistaken identity, and romantic tension ensues.

B-Plot: Jake and Nog reinstate the Noh-Jay Consortium for one last job, to find the perfect birthday present for Rom.

[Bad Thoughts]

AS SHARP AS A KNIFE

At a strategy session planning the retaking pf DS9, Jadzia Dax encounters an intelligence officer, Drell, with whom she served on the USS Troy, her first assignment after joining. While reminiscing with Dax, Drell comes to suspect that Dax was responsible for sabotaging the Troy on the way to Wolf 359. The subsequent investigation points to the possibility that the symbiote asserted itself over the still young host, who damaged the navigation systems of the Troy to help preserve the symbiote. Dax is now recognized for her courage and expertise. The sabotage is swept under the carpet, but Dax is forced to step down as commanding officer of the Defiant.

"Speak the Truth from the Heart" - A programming error in the latest software update for the station's replicators produces truth serum in the food, which causes chaos at a crucial summit being hosted between two warring factions.

"Sour Grapes" - After Worf, ‘O’Brien and Bashir are caught up in a bar fight with traumatized Wolf 359 survivors that talked badly about Captain Picard, the Siskos have a heart to heart about both the bar fight, the Battle of Wolf 359 and how they feel about Picard years removed that event. Meanwhile, Quark is upset that a childhood rival from Ferenginar is trying to profit off of the bar fight, without acknowledging that it took place at Quark’s bar.

Next episode - “Yesterday, and Yesterday, and Yesterday” - its meant to be a play on “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow” which comes from Macbeth.

“Yesterday, and Yesterday, and Yesterday” - After a newly joined Trill classmate of Jadzia Dax's suffers from a series of near accidents, Jadzia suspects the symbiont may be trying to exact revenge on him for something related to the symbiont's previous host. Meanwhile, Sisko reminisces about Jake's first day of school on the eve of his son's graduation.

“A Bruised Reed” - On the fourth anniversary of the disappearance of the USS Voyager, a Ktarian named Grenkrendtregk begins to re-evaluate both his faith in the Ktarian religion, and his belief that Starfleet will ever bring home the lost starship. While on patrol near Setlik III, the crew of the Defiant tries to cheer him up while he thinks of his missing wife, Samantha Wildman. Meanwhile on the station, some survivors of the Occupation set fire to the Bajoran temple, determined to get a response from the Prophets for not granting their desire to see the Cardassians that harmed and abused the Bajoran people destroyed outright. Kira has to show these disgruntled survivors that their approach is significantly misguided.

[Bad Thoughts]

"Ruth" - Bashir and Garak work together to restore the memories and identity of a Bajoran resistance hero, who was a Cardassian with altered genetics, biology, and memories. Not only is the Cardassian contemptuous of his true identity, he knew Tain and the abuse he inflicted on Garak. Nog starts dating a Nausican woman--injurious passion ensues.

“I Must Not Fear” - Ezri finds herself stranded on a Tzenkethi colony, her runabout unable to be repaired with the tools available. As Tzenkethi search teams near her position, Ezri tries to recall what Sisko told Curzon Dax about his experience with the Tzenkethi.

Meanwhile, a encounter the Defiant has with a Tzenkethi warship while looking for Ezri brings back a repressed memory of Sisko when he served on the USS Okinawa during the Tzenkethi war

“Rules of Ac-Q-sition” - Chaos ensues when a valuable and (unbeknownst to those that had it) dangerous object in possession of an alien race disappears while they are visiting DS9. Q informs Sisko that he has taken it because it cannot be allowed to remain with them (or in non-Continuum space). Sisko orders him to give it back, and suggests he try acquiring it by legal means instead. Q, unused to making business deals, consults Quark for advice. But Quark may have designs on the object himself.

"Feet of Clay" - When Sisko is court martialed for his involvement in the assassination of Senator Vreenak, it forces an unwanted reassessment of Sisko as both a man and as an Starfleet officer. When Sisko finds out that the leak came from his friend Admiral Ross and that Ross works for Section 31, Sisko has to reassess that friendship. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Shelby - Captain of the USS Sutherland - is on shore leave on DS9 during the court martial and runs into O’Brien and Worf. Despite the respect they have for each other over their conduct in regards to combating the Borg, their respective positions on Sisko’s court martial puts them at odds with each other.

“Juggernaut” - Deep Space 9 is right in the path of a massive spatial storm that appears too quickly to evacuate personnel. In hot pursuit of the storm is a ship whose captain claims that she and her crew are responsible for its being unleashed...and Sisko might be able to stop it.
