There are so many standalone movies that do exactly that. Are they all penned by non-decent scriptwriters?A decent scriptwriter would not have to rely on a "previously on" text crawl or voiceover for new audiences.

Ok what's ST:F2F?
Yeah, the best case scenario would have been an entertaining action movie kind of romp analogous to FC, which wouldn't exactly do the strengths of the series justice. This is my view on the subject as well. The story was over, let the show lie with its decent ending instead of re-animating its corpse for the cheap thrill of a 90 minute action movie. Much like the TNG movies, a DS9 movie would have had to focus on a generic villain with a one-off story that ignored the depth of DS9's established lore. Sounds awful.DS9 is my favorite TV show ever but a movie would have been a horrible idea, the story was over. Somethings are better off being left well enough alone.
It wasn't a matter of "deserving a movie", it was simply a matter of logic, IMO.
It is a shame that DS9 never got movie it is my favorite star trek show. Can someone please tell me why it never got a movie.i would have loved to have seen one. What could the story have been and who could have been the Villain.
Obviously Sisko would be in a DS9 movie, so the film would have to explain his return.
