DS9 Anniversary Plans

Dayton Ward said:
Mine will focus heavily on DS9, as well as Voyager, NF, and CoE. Epic crossovers, high octane-action, star-crossed romance, and a time-traveling, Prophet-guided beagle named Porthos.

No, wait. That was just a dream.
For shame, because I'd read that book.

I might even go so far as to buy it once I was done in the Borders Cafe!

Terri,

Sorry to hear you're no longer focusing on Trek fiction as I've enjoyed your stories in the past. I hope you have the best of luck in getting more of your original fiction published.

Dayton, if we ever get the rights to do original fiction for the mag, I want a short story about that for the first issue!! K9, eat your heart out!

I don't think they are probably going to be doing to much, because they seem to be saving most of the anniversary stuff for X0th anniversaries.

The magazine feature was entirely my idea, rather than an official 'anniversary' - I want to give each of the series some good feature space before everything hots up next fall for the movie. After DS9, we'll be giving Enterprise some retrospective attention, as well as joining the Mirror Universe festivities later in 08, and I've got some Voyager plans up my sleeve (as well as a Kate Mulgrew interview in issue 9).

I'm down with that. Give me a minute to change my bongwater, and I'll get started typing

Actually, that's a great idea (short fiction in the magazine, I mean. Not the side effects of bad Mexican food. :p)I don't suppose there's a way for the magazine to be allowed to print original shorts, similar to what the Stargate magazine's doing?

IIRC, Star Wars has done original fiction in magazines and such as well. Unless Paramount/CBS wants too much for the rights to do so, I'd say that it's a great idea as well. I would go from buying a very occasional issue to being a subscriber. :bolian:

Seconded!

Good luck with you future plans, Terri.

I know I would start trying harder to pick up magazine regularly if you guys started printing original fiction, especially if the stories were from the Trek Lit regulars.

Five series, a new movie, Trek books coverage... and you want fiction as well... Sheesh!

Seriously, we've upped the "in universe" content which has recently been written by Dayton and Kevin, and there'll be more of that sort of thing over the coming year.

I have to agree with this 100%.. I'd definitely become a subscriber if there was original fiction from our current band of writers that took place within the current storylines/timelines.

Strange New Worlds might not be so dead after all...
