Okay, so if you received your license from a box of CrackerJacks, I understand they don't include free training with that, so I'll let you in on some tips.

If you are turning right onto a four lane road, two in each direction, you need to turn into the lane that is closest to you. That is, the right hand lane, against the curb. If you are turning left onto a road that fits this description, you need to turn into the leftmost lane. That is, the one closest to you, against the yellow line.

This way, two people can turn at once.

Stop being so fucking stupid.

Of course, no one on this entire board will be one of these bad drivers.

The one that irks me in Detroit is that people love to do 60, not 55, not 65 but 60MPH. Of course, the freeways all have a speed limit of 70MPH...

Oh yeah, another Detroit trait is to rubberneck at accidents to the point that traffic comes to a complete standstill. I've actually seen the traffic on the opposite side of a divided freeway back up for an accident on the other side!

It's really prominent though, moreso than in other parts of the state.

Okay, I know there's a fast lane and a slow lane. And I like driving in the 'fast' lane, even though I'm probably 'slow' by most drivers' standards. But you know what? Suck it up. Don't honk at me, don't tear around me with engines gunning, don't tail-gate.

It's much safer and easier for me to drive in the lane I need to be in all along than to weave in and out of traffic hoping I can eventually change lanes without getting myself or YOU killed when I need to turn.

I could see the outrage if I actually drove slowly...but I don't. Even if there's a fast lane and a slow lane, there's also still this thing called a SPEED LIMIT, and if I go five to ten above it most of the time, I don't even want to KNOW what you're going. You want to rush along and risk an accident or ticket? Fine. I can't afford either. Try planning your trips better and maybe you won't have to speed race to make schedule.

I have a profound hatred for people who want to disregard common sense safety rules and then have the gall to get angry at those who don't choose to do so.

They must sell drivers licenses at the Dollar store also. I'm pretty convinced that a guy in front of me last night bought 3 of 'em. 2 for himself and one for his dog. From the job he was doing I think he should have put the dog behind the wheel.
