Drinking with Coworkers

what if you are the type of co worker who tends not to go out with the other coworkers & keep to themselves? Are you more likely to become a target or scapegoat in work situations? :alienblush:

I hate the idea of socialising with my co-workers.

Not because I dislike them particularly, on the whole they are all ok, but simply they are not my friends, they are the people I work with, I have no interest in them beyond that. I'll be polite and friendly enough with them at work, but once I leave for the day I dont think about the people there, I have no interest in going out drinking with them, I dont put them in my phone so I can txt them all night, I dont add them to my facebook.

What annoys me most is that a lot of people think that attitude is strange.

I have had plenty of social occasions with co-workers - everything from parties (including one bachelorette party with a male stripper) to evenings out drinking to gym memberships to entering (running) races together as a team for charity, to company softball teams.

For the most part these have been positive experiences, and the amount of work-related issues discussed depended upon the situation....but usually it was minimal, unless it was a situation where all participants knew ahead of time (maybe because there was 'something big' going on) that we would probably spend some time discussing work.
