Dragon Age: Origins - Anyone playing?

I don't even want to see Bioware even bother trying with DLC in Dragon Age, I just want to see an expansion pack or two to hold us over until a sequel.

I don't care as long as they let us append it to our current game at the end, rather than forcing us to do it "in-between" like Mass Effect. I want to view my character's continued adventures, not go back to somewhere before I saved Ferelden...ah well. I wouldn't mind visiting the Qunari homeland though. Reading between the lines that I've gotten so far, it seems that things aren't that great there at the moment...

That's the thing, the post-game save says that you can revisit DLC adventures that take place before the final battle. It just dumps you into the camp and gives you a map without any access to any of the areas except the DLC ones.

The ending probably precludes any post-ending DLC anyhow.

As for expansions... the money's probably in smaller, more frequent DLC anyhow. Even Bethesda realized that with Fallout 3.

Still working my way through the tower (Haven't played much yet) but all the characters suddenly seem to have had an attack of the clumsy hands. They just can't hit a thing:(

I'll probably get back to it sometime in the weekend and try again.

The one thing I love about Bioware is that they keep upping the sex with each game they do. I hear you can have a 4-way in this one, involving the gay elf(no not the one from Drawn Together). Of course he has to be a gay elf. Why wouldn't he be. I think they should have broken type and made gay dwarf or gay orc or gay dragon. But of course we won't be able to see the dragon's wang. Kids play this game after all.

The one thing I wish they would do in these games is if your character doesn't get with one of the other optional love interests, they can get together with another character. Because a universe where only two people are allowed to have sex is pretty damn depressing. Because personally, I can't stand Gothy McTitsalot. But I do think she and Sir Zapp of Brannigan would make a cute couple with they way they always bicker back and forth.

Apparently there is a brothel in the game that you can visit that caters to all kinds of tastes...

Is it like the one from Fable: The Lost Chapters where you can screw a 90 year old whore? Because that's going to be hard to top.

Comeon we know you want a threesome with leliana and morrigan.

Nah. Not really. Witchy McBitchy is just a young, slutty version of Kreia from KOTOR 2. I hated Kreia. Mean people suck. You basically make out with her when ever you want to after a single conversation. "Well that was easy." was what I was thinking at the time. And Lulu from Final Fantasy 10 should totally sue.

I love Leliana though. I love how she's a total badass, but so girly at the same time. But not like retarded Japanese girly. Kudos to them for that, because most female badasses are just Bruce Willis with a vagina.

I agree about Morrigan. I dropped her as soon as I got Wynne because I couldn't stand her badmouthing every decision I was making. If she were actually interesting and fun like, say Canderous in KotOR, that would have been fine, but aside from having the voice of Claudia Black, there wasn't anything else I liked about Morrigan.

Although Wynne's pretty boring. I dunno why there are like five different Warrior henchmen and only two Mages and two Rogues. Leliana and Zevran are fine, but neither of the Mages are all that great.

I also would like to see BioWare make it possible to initiate a romance with any henchman one of these days*, and not just a select few.

*Not including inorganic characters like Shale or HK-47. Unless of course you're into that sort of thing. :p

Canderous was like Wrex. They were both professionals who followed orders and gave their opinions when asked or was required. They were both brutally honest. Morrigan is a snotty brat who's nasty and mean just to be nasty and mean.

I think someone made a "Dog" joke somewhere already.
OMG, my favorite scene so far is when Sten and Doggie are in a growling contest with each other and Doggie wins. Then Sten says "You are a great warrior.".

And I finally made it to the brothel. It's decent. I think I liked the Fable one better. The Duelist there - who you can sleep with/have a 4-way with - totally looks just like Jennifer Garner.

Well, after a long marathon, I just finished it. And it was awesome.

So who all went along with Morrigan's little ritual? Since I knew that the other Gray Warden whose name I could not recall would never survive, and my character had a relationship going with Alistair, it seemed logical to me. ;) Also, the one fight at the end with the allies that I never ever use was...interesting since I hadn't spent any of their skills, talents, or attributes, and had never bothered gearing them. Luckily I had just enough gear lying around to do so.

I'm going to have to try another run through at some point with myself as a mage, the dog as a tank, Sten or Oghren as the DPSer, and Wynne as healer. Just to shake things up. But...not for a while yet. After spending about 40 hours on the game (and somehow only 35-40% completing it ), I'm a bit Dragon-Aged out.

Also, Alistair is awesome. Easily my favorite character in the game.

If you've maxed out your relationship with Alistair, I would suggest trying out the other endings just for kicks.

There is a touch of KoTOR1 in one of the endings and it was probably my favourite of the endings.

You know, I usually don't gender-bend. But I'm very tempted to, just so I can experience more Alistair content. Because he's just so frickin' awesome.

"I'm going to name my child after you. The grumpy one."

I find it convenient that the two major love interests with actual impact on the plot are straight, forcing you to play the game twice to see everything.

It's definitely worth it to see how the game plays out with a female PC working it with Alistair though.

I took kind of a break for a few days to focus on MW2, but I started back in on DAO again tonight. Finished Orzammar and Shale and Oghren's side quests. Oghren is hilarious, by the way.

Oh, and my Grey Warden is beastly against darkspawn now that he's wielding Starfang enchanted with a Grandmaster Silverite Rune (+10 damage to darkspawn). :techman:

I played the PC version of this game. OMG is it awful. I mean just terrible. The graphics on KOTOR 1 look better then this. The gameplay is very awkward with all of the right-clicking. And terrible slow-down time. But the load-times are what ruin it. It will literally take 5 minutes sometimes to load a single area.

The X-Box version has it's problems(targetting and movement issues in combat) but all in all it's a much better experience then the PC version.

But there is one issue I've been having. Going up against huge mobs is a pain in the ass, because not only will at least one of your party members die during combat, but your characters burn through healing packs faster then Lyndsay Lohan on a coke-binge. It gets better once you have Wynn, but still.

Problems evident only on shitty computers...
