Dragon Age: Origins - Anyone playing?

I'm having a hard time getting in to this game so far. I'm still on the first foray in to the wilds and I have no idea what to do to finish this Last Will and Testament mission that I've picked up. Aside from that I'm getting killed pretty often and I'm annoyed at the combat system. It's almost like wow, only clumsier. I don't know how many times I've tried to click on a bad guy and he moves out of the way just in time for me to whiff and click the ground so my guy starts running off in to the forest. I suppose they want me to pause for every order but it seems like a waste of time this early in the game where you have no tactics really to use.

Heh, on the console I can't even play the game with the radial menu... and it's rather silly that they force you to spend skill points to open up the tactical menu options. I just gave up, set it to easy and treated the game as an action game like I did with Mass Effect (or like Jade Empire, if I think about it).

I haven't had any problems with the combat system on the Xbox, but I've never really cared for setting up my NPCs, so I just let level them up automatically and let them do whatever they want in battles. I'm a lazy RPG player. :p

The console version is substantially easier though. My understanding is that "easy" on PC is akin to normal on console. Or at least that's the impression I got from some reviews.

Does anyone know how much story there is left in the game after the conclusion of the landsmeet? I'm at that point, and while my journal says 74% of the world is explored, only 30 percent of the game is complete. Yet, somehow, a quest I have is called "The Final Battle." Explanations anyone? Please tell me there's more because the story would be pretty disappointing if there weren't. I mean, all that work getting everyone together and then we get a few minutes fighting the blight? Come on...

I'm sure that includes all the sidequests though?

Oh yeah, I was wondering, you still get access to the world map after Landsmeet?

The only thing that bugs me about the combat system is on my dual-wield warrior, if I position myself to use dual-blade sweep, my frontal AOE, on a bunch of targets, she turns around and faces my target, even though I'd hit him and hit a few others as well. >.

Yeah. You can choose to do whatever you like after Landsmeet. I'm just not sure how much of the game is left after that point.

That's the one where you find a chest/box, right?
You have to bring it, unopend, to someone in Redcliff...

Argh.
I'm in the temple above Haven, and those drakes are tearing me to pieces. I did one fight I think three times, and I just got destroyed on another. Do you have any tips on how to beat them, with Alistair, Leliana, Wynne, and a dual-wield warrior? It's getting quite...frustrating.

My character kissed Claudia Black character! What a excellent and extremely long game. I have played over 14 hours and my elven mage is in level 8, and i have not read the codex. Anyone reads that, the letters on the xbox are very small and i have to seat close to the tv.

I don't have any problems reading the text, but I'm playing on an HDTV.

I'm 36 hours into the game, and so far I've only completed half of the main Blight-related quests, and I'm only level 14. This is gonna take me a while. :techman:

My easy playthrough took 42 hours... but that doesn't count all the times I went back and did all the alternate paths for the achievements and the other origins. I probably spent 60 hours on it now that I think about it.

Also, achievements ruin games... but I can't help myself. Go figure. :p

I love achievements. It's kind of sad how excited I get when I hear that little noise and see the achievement pop up on my screen.

Yeah, but if it weren't for the achievements, I wouldn't whore myself out to everyone and just stick with Leliana.

Although, the ending was really nice if you manage to get one of the characters to fall in love with you. It reminded me of the cut KoTOR ending that Gaider wrote previously, so it's almost fitting.

Huh? I'm 37 hours in and I'm struggling to find stuff to do to avoid ending the game. Have pretty much done the available side quests and am considering getting the DLC fort just to prolong the experience. Dunno have you're stuck at 14...

I'm guessing they played "tactically" and constantly played the game paused?

Also, for what it's worth, you get an autosave after you finish the game that lets you go back and play DLC. Which is kind of unfortunate because it assumes all DLC will take place before the ending... but there you go.
