Drag me to Hell *Spoilers inside*

Has anyone else watched this film? I just got back from the cinema and I must say, I was very impressed. I didn't think I would be as much as I did. All the way through it just felt so tense, and the ending actually made me feel slightly sick. Not because of what happened and everything, it's just I thought about what she is thinking when she is being dragged down under the train!

Really good movie! I loved the "comedy" elements all the way through, grossed me out but made me laugh. A talking goat? Fantastic.

I must admit, I laughed more than I was scared, although there were a few nice jump moments. Liked it quite a bit--Raimi back in form.

There's a thread about this film from not too long ago here: http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?p=3054183#post3054183

Don't know if this has been covered already, but it left me wondering about the reason her trick with the button failed. I came to the notion that, in damning her for something rude and cruel but not a blood crime, the old woman condemned herself as well, and, once dead, was already in Hell or headed there. If there is a Hell, then a power above Humans decides who goes, and the old woman walked around that power. So giving her the button was pointless, and fate flipped it back on the target.

You could draw that interpretation, but I read the more obvious one: she mistook the coin in the envelope for the button in the envelope, and in her hurry didn't bother to make sure. Not fate, just carelessness.

When she dropped the envelope in the car she picked up the wrong one, and the one she shoved in the woman's mouth was the one with the coin in and her boyfriend returned the button to her at the end of the film

I didn't mean that fate simply played with her. I meant that, since her target may well have already condemned herself by condemning another, trying to give the button away to her corpse failed, perhaps causing the mistake to begin with.

It didn't fail, because she never gave the button to her. She gave a coin to her.

I just saw this movie (a little late because I'm not in North America at the moment). My friend and I both appreciated it more for the comedy than horror, as we felt the horror was a bit too typical and derivative of many other horror movies. The only real horror innovations I saw and appreciated were the use of sound and how a lot of the scares managed to be scary while taking place in broad daylight rather than at night.

The comedy is what really makes the movie. It's the Raimi horror-comedy style, where a lot of the gags are like modernized versions of ones from "Evil Dead II", but they feel thrillingly original nonetheless. The animated evil goat reminded me of the dead animal heads coming to life in Ash's cabin and of course the anvil bit (highlight of the movie, in my opinion) was like the eyeball to the mouth, but these didn't simply feel like retreads.

The only big problem was that after all the delightfully wacky violent sight gags and over-the-top gross out fluids, the scenes that were straight horror were a bit of a bummer and disappointment in how cliche they were (particularly the seance).

But my friend and I both agreed it was a fine showcase for Raimi's uniquely twisted sense of humour, and that's what made it worth watching ultimately. While a lot of the horror elements disappointed me, I felt the final moment was appropriately disturbing...a little too late, but it was the most satisfying part of the movie for me horror-wise.

I felt like a terrible person at this film. I actually found the ending rather funny. My friend next to me did as well.

If I was this chick I would have just went to church and prayed to God. God is more powerful than any demon and He would have stopped it.
