Dr. Strange - Benedict Cumberbatch Cast!

I guess people forget, or don't know, that Stephen Strange's origin is rooted in this type surrounding. That Strange having facial hair is a standard for the character.
Perhaps passively implying that Marvel is ripping off Nolan, which couldn't be further from things but that's the tone and idea I've been seeing on these posts about the net pushing the "Batman Begins 'joke' " angle.
We could get pedantic I suppose and discuss when Batman's journey and training was retconned into his lore vs Strange's origin but that seems a waste of time.

I don't really see it though, just because he's in an Asian looking city doesn't mean it's going to be ripping off Batman Begins. That's kind of like assuming that because it involves spaceships Star Wars is ripping off Star Trek.

Do you really think that Star Trek the Motion Picture would have happened without Star Wars making hundreds of millions of dollars first?
And Batman Begins kind of ripped off the Shadow's story anyway.
Didn't Deadman also sort of go down this path? It's a pretty common trope, particularly in the pulpy fantasy fiction of the 20's & 30's.
That said, I'm pretty sure the ninja training part of Batman's backstory was a fairly late addition. Possibly more recent than Dr. Strange's debut. I kind of want to say it was a Miller addition, but I'm far from 100% sure.
