Dr. Strange - Benedict Cumberbatch Cast!

According to Latino Review, the top contenders for the role of The Ancient One are Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy and Ken Watanabe.

All great actors but surprisingly 'inside the box' by Marvel standards, IMHO. Usually they're a little less obvious with their casting.

Eh, I think it's no different than Anthony Hopkins as Odin.

Yeah, or Hugo Weaving as Red Skull I suppose. But when they cast the likes of RDJ, Jeff Bridges or James Spader, there was a real 'oh, I didn't see that coming' sort of excitement, for me anyway. All of those actors would be great, I just hoped for that unexpected factor again,

Well, I certainly wouldn't have expected Morgan Freeman, since I was expecting an Asian dude ;)

In Guardians of the Galaxy (set in the 30th century) Stephen Strange is the Ancient One.

Um?

Was he okay with the Badoon controlling Earth for a thousand years?

How odd.

The Badoon didn't control the earth for a thousand years and in any event Dr. Strange and the Defenders haelped to liberate the earth.

They're still in talks aparently and they've moved the movie back, this is from Polygon's site.

Doctor Strange, the Marvel Studios feature film focused on the genius neurosurgeon, will hit theaters Nov. 4, 2016, the company announced today during a special event in Los Angeles.
The movie was originally scheduled to premiere in July 2016.

The delay follows reports yesterday from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter that Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Star Trek Into Darkness) was in final negotiations to play Doctor Strange in the film, after rumored talks with Joaquin Phoenix fell apart. Marvel did not provide any new details on casting today. Scott Derrickson (Deliver Us from Evil) is slated to direct Doctor Strange.
Update: Asked about the Cumberbatch casting report during a q-and-a following the presentation, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said, "If it was confirmed, we would have announced it today."
Update 2: "In the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the supernatural, that involves everything from quantum mechanics to string theory. The idea of this film is to open up a whole new corner of the cinematic universe. We want to enter, through Strange, the world of parallel dimensions," said Feige, according to Marvel.

The tweet features the image of newly-appointed (and goateed) star Benedict Cumberbatch superimposed with a mystical/deep space image - which Derrickson subsequently clarified was just an anonymous piece of fan art he found - along with the quote "Strange but not a stranger" (from the first verse of the Talking's Dead's arguably most famous song "Burning Down the House.")
Does anybody proof read anything anymore?
