Dr. Crusher was so hot

I'm starting to appreciate Marina Sirtis more in recent years, I think she got better looking as the series went on.
I think she looked her best when they started putting her in an actual uniform and gave her normal not-giant hair.

Sirtis was hot in First Contact in her civilian costume, as well.

Yeah, the hair and costume change definitely made a difference, but I think part of it was just that she aged very gracefully. Even in Nemesis and on Enterprise I thought she looked better than she did in season 1 of TNG.

I thought Marina looked great in Nemesis, too. The big hair thing was very 80's, and I don't think it looked odd or out of place then. But I agree she looked much better in the uniform.

I always thought she was the best looking woman in Star Trek until I saw Jadzia Dax. I just wish she hadn't dyed her hair blonde in "Star Trek: First Contact"...she looked so much better as a redhead. I'm starting to appreciate Marina Sirtis more in recent years, I think she got better looking as the series went on.

For some reason the older she got, the better...

As for Crusher, I never really saw her as attractive, but she was much better looking as a red head. I may have to rewatch TNG to make an judgement call.

I don't think I meant Nemesis, I think I meant First Contact that I thought she looked nicest in the movies.
I second that. The scene where they are on the surface she is all bending over to help the sick people. Looked like she had lost weight from the series... looked smoking hot in that movie. I've always thought Beverly was the hottest Trek chick.

Um yes

I'd just like to point out that I don't think she is 'hot'. I have a personal system for that term and Gates really doesn't fit it.

Calling a woman 'hot' [and don't worry I'm not about to white knight here] is apt when you are talking about one of the million women in movies/'music' who are wheeled out [or 'discovered'] every year to titilise men. Britney Spears is 'hot'. Jolie is 'hot' but Gates...

She is quite beautiful to be honest. She has such an old school, classy vibe to her that I find very aluring. Elegance, poise...all kinds of words describe her.

For a similar comparison, I am a big fan of Lois & Clark and Terri Hatcher in that show is beautiful, not 'hot'.

So yes, lets all drool over Gates but I really dont think she should be downgraded to just 'hot'.

"downgraded to just 'hot'."

So you think highly of her. :)

I think women are the more beautiful sex even though as a woman I'm more sexually attracted to men of course, so my opinion may not count for much, but I'd like to contribute an opinion.
I don't see 'hotness' here. Lovely, striking features that define her as a classic beauty and that's about it. As pointed out she's in the Lois category. Hot is Jeri Ryan. I suppose hotness is in the eye of the beholder in which Gates would thank you, OP.

James T Kirk, Resurrecting a thread that's been dead for 6 1/2 years is not a good idea. Since there have been additional comments, I'll leave it open but please don't make a habit of doing this.

I just now checked the imdb page and she was in her 40s for darn near the entire series and in her 40s and 50s for the movies!

Dr. Crusher is the original milf.

Here's to your Beverly!

Salute to Gates for keeping her figure and hotness!

Is the point here that's she's "hot" despite her age?

Hotness doesn't end at age 18.

If I was better at photoshop, Red would SO be in nothing but leather chaps right now.

BTW that gym scene is described by both Gates and Marina as sexistic. And I agree: It was too on the nose with the posing and the mirrors. When I saw it it felt very creepy.

But I agree: For me McFadden is the sexiest woman of all Star Trek shows. And she still is - to promote her fund raiser for her theater projects (see the scripts thread here), she put on her old TNG uniform and made two photos in her garden:

I'm not positive that's her. Her face isn't visible in either photo. Are you sure she didn't just have a friend pose for the pictures?

I don't think that's her either, for the same reason you mentioned.

If it was Gates, we would actually see her face.

That's interesting since my focus was more on the costumes both her and Sirtis were wearing; I thought the costumes both her and Sirtis wore were very...fugly.

As I mentioned in another thread, the Berman-era became very conservative, very rigid.

One of the main complaints I had was that feminity was being stripped from the show. For example, no costumes should show skin especially on the women, no female should show any vulnerability (e.g. this trickled down to Kira Nyrys (sp?) from DS9) since that is showing weakness.

(Note: Many of the male costumes, I thought were pretty conservative and ugly as well).

With that said, the funny thing is: While Troi definitely looked good in the season 1 skirt and boots, the idea of a counselor and how her character was portrayed makes sense that she would be in the blue dress she later wore. (Although, there was yet another complaint that there was a plunging neckline!)

I find this an interesting contrast to 1. Jadzia Dax, who was seen in a towel at one point in the show, comfortable with her sexuality, and was a formidable fighter. Granted, she would be kinda mean to Odo, based on SFDebris' comments....but Jadzia was tough. Yet, she's not seen as a 'strong' character by some, or as strong as Major Kira.

2. Ro Laren. I thought it was refreshing to have a character who shook things up with the TNG crew, who all came off like a clique who did everything by the book (or when the 'book' suited their purposes). She was her own person, yes angry at times, even mean to people who tried to get to know her (I'm going off my vague memory since I haven't seen her episodes in years)...but she kept to her guns.

3. Tasha Yar actually was in the skirt and boots in the second part of 'Encounter at Farpoint,' albeit that damn console she worked at pretty much hid her from audience view. She also showed skin, she was tough sometimes a bit too impulsive, she showed vulnerability...yet, she was killed off. Yeah, the actress wanted out but why couldn't she had transferred to another ship for a time? Stuck in a sort of Nexus, filled with 'joy' until they wanted to bring her back?

Another character who I want to mention is The Intendant from DS9; Kira's double. The Intendant was dressed in tight leather, was bisexual, was double-crossing, was sometimes hammy.

Yet, I find her cool. Yeah, her outfit was interesting but you never knew what this character was going to do since she was always out for herself.

Lastly, to close off this little essay , I don't think it would have demeaned Crusher if (off duty, although a Doctor is technically always on-duty) we see the character in a season 1 skirt and boots. Too, I don't see where the mirrors are 'sexist' (a buzzword that is usually thrown around casually). People who work out usually like to watch themselves in the mirror, and I don't recall the cameraperson oogling the rear-ends of Crusher or Troi....or even their 'chest areas.'

This is why I think the Abrams films are a bit refreshing. They're 'loose' and have personality, they're not afraid of sex. Yes, there are problems (which we have an area dedicated to talking about that down below) but there seems to be 'fun' involved; people are allowed to be 'people.'

The woman in those photos seems shorter than Gates, or at least proportioned differently (ie: shorter legs).
