Dorn Pitching Worf Movie

I looked around to see if there was a thread about this but couldn't find one so here you go:

Seems unlikely that this would ever happen but personally I'd love to see some direct to DVD Star Trek content whether it's something like this or various animated features (like how DC and Marvel put out their own animated movies).

Sure it would be made cheaper but if there was a killer script I could accept less special effects. But, again, this is all wishful thinking.

I would love animated trek movie dvds and see no reason why it couldn't be profitable.

A good animated show with decent CGI and cast could really work - 'Prime' has even made Transformers sort of bearable...

Funnily enough watched First Contact again last night and Worf seriously kicked ass in that, much better than zits in Insurrection.

He is surely aiming for live action which he could star in? That's how I read it....scared if it goes SyFy could be cheap rubbish....

I'm not holding my breath for this to happen. I stopped wishing TPTB would make more of this property a long time ago.

1. It would be kinda cool to see something taking place in the prime universe, if only to see what's been happening there since Nemesis (other than Romulus getting destroyed, that is).

2. But...Worf chasing terrorists? What kind of movie plot is that? (But at least we'd get to see a new prime universe starship...)

3. Direct-to-DVD? Really? For a Star Trek movie?

Dorn is also about 100 lbs. lighter these days. I don't think he could pull off an effective return of Worf unless he bulks up.

It's all in the costuming. As long as the face is the same, make-up and pads can do the rest. ST characters are rarely shown in shorts/short sleeves.

I would watch the hell out of this movie.

If they kept the linear passage of time, then in the Prime Universe it would be about the year 2389/2390 or so. 10 years after Nemesis, 3 years after the explosion of Romulus.

If it did ever happen, and it was some sort of terrorist chasing mission, it could be due to the fallout of the destruction of Romulus. Rouge Romulan survivors, Klingons and other races, maybe even gone bad Starfleet.

I can imagine with that mission profile we would be see the ship being something along the line of the Defiant on steroids (if thats possible), something bigger but fast, packs a punch and more scalable when it comes to working independently.

Just a thought, with the destruction of Romulus, I wonder if the Treaty of Algeron would still be intact.

It certainly wasn't in "All Good Things," and Romulus was only conquered, not destroyed in that future history.

Sounds a lot like the "Captain Sulu" series George Takai was always hoping for. I won't hold my breath.

I'd absolutely LOVE that! And Worf as a Captain would kick some serious ass ... :klingon:

A 300 style Klingon epic would be nice. A fantasy spectacle about the Klingons slaying their Gods, and Kahless' bloody adventures.

CBS would own the rights to a DVD release but they'd never approve it. Direct-to-DVD has a low-class image. Better that CBS do nothing with the brand than degrade it.

Anyway, DVDs are a dying technology. If CBS wants to get creative about distribution, they should skip DVDs entirely and go straight to streaming, hook up with Netflix and do a new series. In that case, they'd want a cast of hot new young actors and a new premise.

Maybe they'd revive one existing character for the show, and in that case, Worf makes as much sense as any, if only because it's easier to disguise the actor's age behind the makeup.

Put the hot young actors and the veteran Starfleet officer together and the premise becomes clear: the dreaded Starfleet Academy! :rommie:

(Which actually wouldn't have to be so dreadful. The cadets could be on space missions most of the time.)

If this Worf movie ever gets made, I'll happily watch it. I've always enjoyed the Worf character and I like a more action/adventure oriented take on the Trek universe. I think Paramount would be nuts to not produce some DTV Trek. Warner Brothers and Universal Studios have mad assloads of money on DTV DC animated moves and American Pie spin-offs. Not putting out some Prime-era Trek DTV movies is like leaving money on the table. Especially since nu-Trek has revitalized interest in the franchise.

I think it's a bad idea. The last thing they need to do is water-down the franchise with DTV releases now that they've so successfully relaunched it. And now that Trek is big and young and cool, they really don't need to start stuffing the old guys back into their space-suits.

That said, if a Captain Worf movie was available for pre-order, I would be sitting by my mailbox right now waiting for it to arrive!
