It's absolutely anyone's prerogative if they wish to subscribe to a service or not, but complaining about the existence of various subscription services is a bit of a Catch-22, because we wouldn't be getting all these wonderful TV series with great production values to choose from if such services didn't exist...
Indeed. Nothing drives creative innovation like a little commercial competition. Monopolies on the other hand (which is what everything under a single subscription fee would be) only encourages the minimum effort for the maximum profit.
I mean, when was the last time you heard about some cheap, lazy, lowest common denominator reality show being the newest "must binge" craze?
I don't entirely disagree that it can be a pain for the consumer end experience, but this is where market forces will have a Darwinian effect. It's nickel and diming, and while it's more a la carte unlike cable, there's still a lot of stuff I don't care about and I can't buy access to just one show. Netflix, Hulu, Prime, then you get more specific ones like CBS All Access, DC Universe, the upcoming Disney-Monopoly-Fuck-You-World-Service, and that's without getting into your decades-old HBO/Starz/etc.
And cost aside, it's just obnoxious to keep track of them all; billing, logins, sites/apps, etc. If I could add $5 a month per service onto, say... my Netflix bill, or Hulu, I might be game. Heck, for awhile I had HBO just because I could bundle it with Prime. Even a service that puts everything under one menu and I can access it or not depending on if I've paid for that service would be better than having to go back and forth between the various sites or apps. Trillian for streaming services, that's what I want! Or even better, Steam for television (fuck you EA Origin... which I do have...).

How 'bout the Doom Patrol show? Pretty weird, eh?
