Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

My continued amazement for the quality of your work, Donny, could only be exceeded by the seemingly breakneck speed at which you accomplish it.:techman:

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

With the addition of the reactor column, I think I'm done with the reactor room!

Just a few more details to go before I can call Engineering complete! (namely the respirator racks and some upper level details)

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

This is ridiculously good Donny! What was in place of the reactor room in TMP?

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

It was just a blank wall in TMP.

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

hello there to this person, my question for you is this?, please tell me how well do you know of this star ship of ncc1701?, how well do you know the real size of the ship?, you can post it by pvt email to me or you can post it for everyone can see.

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Anyway...

...here are the final beauty shots of the completed Warp Engineering Room before moving on...

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

I feel as if I could reach out and touch all the pieces of equipment in those images, Donny. You've outdone yourself, yet again! Some of them look like test shots done by Richard Kline for TMP, I'm astounded.

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Glorious!

I'm now wondering, since the reactor room was installed after TMP, could it possibly not fit spatially within the secondary hull, or is there enough room in the "fatter" area towards the front of the ship to shoe-horn it in there without theoretically extruding from the hull?

I ask this because I noticed that, while the outside of the hull tapers towards the back, the rib-line of the inner hull's ceiling and walls remains on a constant straight line from front to back. This might allow for enough room for the reaction chamber to exist.

Or am I getting too pedantic? :o

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

^I spent a few minutes trying to think about where things existed in the ship, and then gave up because the corridor coming out of Main Engineering extends directly into space. :p I'm also puzzled by how the dilithium pedestal was supposed to connect to the intermix chamber -- I guess my main frame of reference is the TNG warp core, where the dilithium crystal was smack in the middle between the streams of matter and anti-matter.

Donny, I'm running out of words with which to praise your work. It truly is like stepping onto the sets. I can see the trainees running for the exit while the partition comes down, and Kirk and Spock at the reactor room window... excellent work.

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Yeah, remember: it's not a priority of mine to make sure "it all fits". My aim is to make accurate on-screen representations of the sets featured in the TV show / films. It also saves me a lot of headache not worrying about the physicality of it all ;)

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Were there specific posts you were trying to point us towards? I probably have the board set to show a different number of posts-per-page than you, because nothing on page 12 seemed particularly relevant, and for me the thread only went to page 42.

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Arboretum? Officers' Lounge? Rec Dec? Shuttle & cargo bays? Sooooo many possibilities...
