My copy is at work. I’ll check it out tomorrow!I was hoping to find that blueprint for the Star Trek [Phase] II Klingon bridge, but I don't see it in my archive. Does anyone have the Phase II book and can check if that's where it was reproduced?
For fun, here's a tentative list of other TOS stuff I want to model. Granted, much of this I'll probably never get around to or finished, but it's fun thinking about for now:
Saladin-class bridge
FJ Ptolemy-class Tug w/ bridge
FJ Dreadnought (with some of my own touches) w/ bridge
TOS-style Miranda w/ bridge
Antares-class ship w/ bridge
Daedalus-class ship
Planetary Starbase (perhaps Starbase 11) w/ some interiors
K7 Station w/ some interiors
Romulan BoP w/ bridge
Klingon D7 w/ bridge
We'll see what happens! Let me know if there's some other stuff you'd like to see! I may not commit to any suggestions but who knows what might tempt me!
HOWEVER, I may try the retractable ball-mount setup when I tackle the Ptolemy and see which I like better.
I’m a huge fan of those mods! I still play them often for inspiration. For some inspiration or points of departure, this Elite Force mod was pretty damned cool... http://lazrojas.com/elitefarce/mods/starbase11/index.html
I thought you might, seem to remember you mentioning them. Amazing amount of work he did.
I've actually toyed with the idea of doing a "HD Remaster" of his Starbase 11 mod. But oh the time that would consume. The amount of work in those mods is astounding. Even if it was done badly (and it wasn't).
Unfortunately I don't have access to a scanner nor is the print very legible in the book anyway, but here's the schematic of the Phase II Klingon bridge I took from the book with my phone. I haven't really deciphered much of it yet, but it does look simple enough for it to represent a hypothetical TOS Klingon bridge.I was hoping to find that blueprint for the Star Trek [Phase] II Klingon bridge, but I don't see it in my archive. I can make out some of the texts and I think I understand what most of the components are.Unfortunately I don't have access to a scanner nor is the print very legible in the book anyway, but here's the schematic of the Phase II Klingon bridge I took from the book with my phone. Yes, page 120Is that from the Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens book? I'll have to dig mine out, I don't remember seeing that in there! Or maybe I just didn't recognise what it was?
Thanks for this!I can make out some of the texts and I think I understand what most of the components are.
- PLAN shows overhead layout
- You can faintly make out what looks like a stock 8' wall beyond outermost wild arch to the lower right of the Plan
- Arch detail to lower left (F.S. ARCH DETAIL (BACKING) are the two (WILD) arches seen outside the hatch
- "MAKE TWO SINGLE-FACED"
- Other text reads "FOAM EDGING" I think...
- Arch detail just right of center appear to be the arches seen in the bridge proper, one of which includes the elliptical hatch and open door pieces
- Detail on this reads (in part) "METAL DOMES" or "METAL DISHES (MOUNT ON HEX 1/???..." These same plant-ons are indicated for the backing arches.
- Looks like the text calls for...
- ____ ARCH DETAIL ON BRIDGE, SCALE = 3.4" TO 1' " I think...
- "MAKE THREE DOUBLE-FACED"
- "MAKE ONE SINGLE FACED WITH ______"
- Elevation A-A is a jogged cross-section. You can see the Captain console and chair are on a slightly raised platform
- Elevation B straightens out the forward wall so that you can see how the consoles and arches and wall with the Hatch are set up.
- Elevation C is looking back at the Captain's console and chair behind it
- You can the see the original series Klingon symbol pointing left on the front of the console, which appears to be 4' wide
- The console itself appears confusing between the PLAN view and this one, but on the former I think the outline that one wants to see as the console may in fact be the shape of the raised platform
- The curved wall behind the chair is marked "Stock"
- Other text reads in part "NOTE! THE ___ ___ ___ TO BE BLACKED OUT AT REAR. SPECIAL EFFECTS ____ _____ _____ AND SPARK EFFECTS ______ _______"
By "to the left", you mean like this?

I typoed left for right, which I just fixed, but yes. That's the way the symbol was originally designed to be presented.By "to the left", you mean like this?

Worked on the Ptolemy-class this weekend and the standard cargo containers in which it is rigged to tug. I wanted to flesh out the cargo containers to be a bit more detailed than they appear in FJ's Tech Manual, so there was a lot of trial and error in concepting the details I wanted to add and how I wanted the tow pad to connect to the cargo containers. I took a lot of cues from the cover of the sixth Star Trek: Vanguard novel which I believe was modeled and rendered by Doug Drexler. (Side note: I'm currently reading the Vanguard series of novels and I'm in love with them). I didn't quite have time to wrap everything up tonight like I thought I would, so I only took this one shot. I have some more work to do tomorrow and once done I'll show more detailed shots.
For the Ptolemy-class itself, I kept it pretty faithful to FJ's design. Part of me really wants to not deviate from the basic silhouette of those designs and only make small, cosmetic changes (like I've done with the deflector armature and underside hangar decks). Therefore, I didn't embellish the nacelle pylons and kept them straight and attaching in a similar fashion to how Connie's pylons attach to its secondary hull. I know it's simple, but it is in line with what's been established.
You'll notice that I have not changed the armature from it's Saladin configuration, as I decided I really really like how I've depicted it, despite @aridas sofia's valid point that a ball-mounted deflector on a telescoping arm probably makes more sense. I just can't get over how much I like the setup I've already rendered and couldn't envision the telescoping arm trumping the aesthetic of what I already have.
As for the hangar bays, you'll see those are unchanged from their Saladin configuration as well. I experimented with different configurations (single bay, bays to 90 port and/or starboard, bays pointing aft instead of forward), but again, the configuration I already had looked best to me and provided the most clearance for incoming craft. Only having one bay, adding assymetry to the design, just looked too jarring for me. Plus, I want to eventually model the interior of this double-bay setup. The only downside is that if the saucer were to make an emergency separation and landing, the landing legs would block the way of the bays, which I admit really bothers me. I dunno. I'm going to keep weighing all the different configurations, but almost all of them presented problems and this one just looked best.
You'll notice that I've painted the leading dorsal edge and those decals on the underside of the nacelles yellow. I like the idea of tugs all sharing this yellow trim color to denote that they are tugs, and when I model a bridge interior for the Ptolemy-class, I will also switch out the Enterprise's red/orange trim for this yellow. I can't wait to see how that's gonna look!
Anyway, here's a single shot until tomorrow night:

Wasn't meant as a correction but an example. The emblem points to the actor's left and to stage left so I had no problems with your statement. Quotes are just easier to type for me.I typoed left for right, which I just fixed, but yes. That's the way the symbol was originally designed to be presented.
