Donny's Klingon Stuff

I chalk that up to the TOS costuming and props departments working together to build a unified Klingon aesthetic before the existence of the “houses”. Early Worf costume design looked at what came before and equated that to a generic “Klingon look”, followed by his final appearance, starting to use house designs, after which we never saw the original design again (to my recollection).

Off the top of my head, the modern Klingon trefoil first drops in "Elaan of Troyus" (but first aired in "The Enterprise Incident") of the third season. The way I see it, the horizontal wicker emblem was supposed to be the Klingon sigil until the D7 was made.

But there were props made with the older Klingon sigil. From Elaan as troyus as well, there's the Klingon Communicator. It might have been one Kor used in that episode as well, but fans seized on the trefoil and that's what the Klingons have been using since.

Jefferies notes the trefoil as the "Klingon Fleet Emblem", not the Empire emblem, so there's no inconsistency there.

Hey guys! I'm sure by now you've all seen the newest slew of updates for the Roddenberry Archive. I wanted to highlight two bridges I worked on for this release for your viewing pleasure! Along with the I.K.S. Amar which was released earlier this year, you can now view my work on Commander Kruge's Bird-of-Prey bridge from Star Trek III, and Captain Klaa's Bird-of-Prey bridge from Star Trek V!

Here are the direct links:
Kruge's Bird-of-Prey
Klaa's Bird-of-Prey

A couple of cool things to make sure you catch when you go into the interactive mode by clicking on "Explore in 3D"

On Kruge's BoP, you can change the viewing screen by sitting in the captain's chair and selecting the secondary action on the chair.
Also on Kruge's BoP, you can sit in the aft port-side station and examine a Klingon data cartridge!
And moving to the room aft of the bridge, don't forget to examine the Klingon disruptor on the cargo containers.

This build highlights really well the fact that this bridge was a redress of the Enterprise torpedo bay set from TWOK+TSFS, which itself was a redress of the I.K.S. Amar bridge from TMP.

As for Klaa's bridge, don't forget to sit in the captain's chair and activate the targeting scope for a little demo of the scope! Had a lot of fun bringing that to life.

Also, you can check out my coworker Rob Bryan's work on the bridge of the I.K.S. Bortas here: https://roddenberry.x.io/2367-iks-bortas/?view=Main

Enjoy! Let me know if you have any questions.
