Donny's B'rel-Class Bridge

Well, seeing that the only toilet we've ever seen in Trek was once in TFF (maybe Enterprise?) it's clear to me that all species of the galaxy have had their rectums genetically removed by the 24th century.

Heeheehee

I always laugh every time I hear the word "rectum." My favorite joke my grandpa ever told me ended in the punchline, "Rectum? Damn near killed him!"

Gets me every time.

My memory sucks is what it is. In TUC, Nick Meyer had them take out the periscope, but added a small standing helmsman's station right behind Chang's command chair. There's no wheel though, because that would be silly, even for all the nautical flourishes Meyer likes to add to his Trek movies.
A-ha! I wasn't hallucinating!

Check out this video of the battle, specifically from 1:05 to around 1:10. As the camera moves past Chang's hand, you can see the helmsman in the background spinning the wheel. Not that it particularly matters, since Donny said he's going with the Rotarran configuration. But I'm glad to see I haven't become senile in my young age. ;)

Boy. Real life has been very hectic lately, so I apologize for being a ghost for the past couple of months. However, I've got a small update.

Still a good bit of work to be done (captain's chair, two free-standing consoles, console screens, the door, and some greebles), but I'm loving the way it's turning out, especially with Unreal's lighting engine.

Nice. Are you reusing anything from your TWOK torpedo bay?
No, since this is the TVH/TFF/TUC/TNG/DS9 BoP bridge (all of which used the same basic framework) it was a completely different set from the TMP K'tinga / TWOK Photorp Bay / TSFS BoP bridge (all of which used the same basic framework)

Wow, I didn't realise the TSFS BOP bridge was a redress of the torpedo bay set.
Yep. They converted the aft half of the torpedo bay set into the BoP bridge for TSFS, and erected a circular doorway (previously used as the portside docking bay doorway in TWOK) to cut the two halves of the set off from each other. In the shot below, you can see the bottom of one of the large support beams that were signature pieces of both the TMP K'tinga bridge and the TWOK torpedo bay:

Also of note, someone noticed a while back that one of the control panels was missing from Kirk's command chair in TSFS. In the screenshot of the BoP above, you can see where that control panel ended up.

Thank Donny, I never realised the BOP conversion of the TWOK torpedo bay was that direct!

You're referring to the Mary Sue syndrome. But apparently the Trill have a good reason for being good at so many things.

I never noticed that Odo was good at everything. Indeed, the show often showed his shortcomings and blind spots, such as being too by the book, too prideful at times, being overly sensitive and touchy about some things, as his susceptibility to the female founder. I never saw him as too perfect.

Oh my. It's been years since I've seen STIII. That Klingon bridge looks very out of place now that the established color scheme and architecture went a different direction.

Wanted to give another shot before I head down to Los Angeles for Thanksgiving. I completed the command chair tonight, as well as the two free-standing consoles behind it.

Isn't it posited somewhere - maybe the Haynes BoP book? - that the captain's throne on Klingon ships is a personal escape pod?
That *sounds* familiar (and I don't have the Haynes book, so I think it would be from something earlier, but could have been included there, too, I suppose). But, I don't think it sounds right - that seems too much like running away, and while I know that "real" Klingons don't actually live perfectly by the honor they swear by like a religion, I have to think that would be a little too *obviously* hypocritical to put enough forethought into doing something so without honor like that as to actually give the captain equipment specifically to escape in a way that didn't include his/her ship or crew.

I couldn't find anything in the Haynes book, so I'm not sure where I read that theory, if anywhere!

Another alternative is that it's not an escape pod as such, but has access to emergency life support masks etc in case of life support failure.

The Haynes book does suggest the chair can override weapons and propulsion systems in an emergency, so that combined with life support would allow the captain to fight to the last.
