Done watching all seasons/episodes of DS9 - Suggestions?

I just finished watching all and every episode of DS9 from season 1 to season 7 a few minutes ago... As with Babylon 5, there is that... sadness? when you know you finished a good show and wish you could just forget about it completely so you can watch it again.

It is funny because I was completely disconnected with the star trek universe until I heard DS9 mentioned in an episode of the "big bang theory", it all started there. After sampling a few episodes, I really didn't think I would like the show this much because the show seemed like a Babylon 5 impression with more non-scifi "filler" episodes. But a few seasons in, and especially the last season I just could not stop until I have seen how the story unfolds. It grows on you.

Anyway... now that I am done watching all of the star trek series (enterprise, voyager, all of them) with the exception of the animated series and the original 70s ones.. I really don't know what else to watch from here. Any suggestions?

Do what I do and start the whole process over again. ;)

I know what you mean about the sadness. I just recently finished my last run through DS9, and that last episode is pretty damn powerful, moreso than any of the other series' finales for me. I have to remind myself that I have the DVD's and can actually watch them again!

Unfortunately, ST is pretty much my only geeky indulgence, so I have nothing along the same lines to recommend. Good luck! :techman:

If you haven't done so already, give Firefly a go! It's reminiscent of TOS in some of its humour and has a lot of very well written stories.

I loved both DS9 and B5. Personally, I can only recommend nuBSG as something to check out if you liked those two.

Just be aware that it's quite a bit darker and far less upbeat than those two were. It really runs with the post apocalyptic scenario. So if you think that sounds too dark and dreary, it's probably not the right show.

The Wire. No, it's not sci-fi, but it has Omar. Watch The Wire.

And if you must insist on watching a sci-fi show then just watch the original Star Trek. You'll have to adjust to its cheesy 60s sensibilities, but it is worth it for the great characters.

Oh I have seen BSG... I could not possibly have missed it. I also watched the few Caprica episodes released so far. All 10 seasons of stargate SG1, all of Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe, Space: Above and Beyond, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Prisoner, and also all of Firefly (nice show, too bad it didn't last).

And the wire also... and yes Omar is great, or should I say was. ;) In the same genre I have seen the first couple of seasons of "the shield" 3-4 years ago, I don't know if they released new episodes since then maybe i should check it out. I am not into cops shows in general, but those were edgy and clever and great, which makes them universal.

If you liked the first couple of seasons of The Shield then you should definitely watch the rest of it, you wont regret it. The first few seasons are good but the storylines are fairly simplistic and everything feels very static, it's around season 3 that things begin to take off, there's a great Aceveda storyline that season that I wont ruin for you in case you haven't seen it yet. Season 4 is when the show started to compel me, it had a very well executed season-long arc and by the final episode I was heavily emotionally involved, the only problem with that season is that the story was mostly self-contained, you can sort of think of it as the Glenn Close season because her character is at the centre of that season but she never shows up again.

Seasons 5 through 7 are excellent, there's several stories that draw on events all the way back to the pilot, the show's no longer afraid to shake things up, there's explosive developments (literally) and the story keeps on building right up until the finale. Family Meeting is a fantastic episode, not quite perfect, but certainly one of the most powerful finales in TV history. It's almost worth watching the whole show just to get the full force of that episode.

Thanks, I will do that.

Update, I started watching a series called "Fringe". It is something of a mix between science fiction and a cop show. Kind of the 4400? but MUCH better. I have seen the pilot so far and liked it a lot.
