Don'cha see?

When you watch a bunch of episodes back-to-back within a brief period of time, you start to pick out little things. Sometimes, when they're more noticeable, they're kind of annoying. Lately I've been noticing DS9's overuse of the phrase "Don't you see"/"Don'cha see". I started picking it out when every episode for what might have been a 5-episode span used it between seasons 4 and 5, and, well...damn! Isn't that crazy? People don't even actually say that. I'm not letting it bother me, because in general the dialogue in DS9 is way above par for Star Trek, but has anyone else noticed it? Does it bother any of you?

Two phrases Trek used way too often...

"I can't. You see, I'm dying."

"I will feel it for both of us."

One overused DS9 phrase I wish I could un-notice is, "Ironic, isn't it?" It's especially obvious/annoying during the last batch of season 7.

Plus ""I don't like it any more than you do" and "If you have something to say to me SAY it.", both of which usually came from Sisko.

I would be happy to post original examples for you, FSM, but I didn't memorize the ones I've heard up to this point. If I catch more I'll pass them on. In the meantime, another overused phrase would be "Welcome home," and I can recall its use by the Borg Queen and the Female Changeling, in about the same tone. Some of the others seem to be deliberate, such as "Another time, perhaps", which I, too, connect with the Bajoran monk in Emissary. A lot of the series revolves around the Prophets, who are timeless beings, and a lot of what happens seems to be related to destiny. Much like in Lost, when things were also repeated on purpose.

I hate "don't you see?" it's one of those cliche lines that nobody says in real life
seems like it's always used by someone trying to persuade the un-persuade-able with some outlandish realization

"Don't you see? This is all a DRAEM!!!!111eleventy"
