Don Marshall R.I.P.

Grant

Commodore
Commodore
The last of the "seven", Don Marshall died on October 30 at age 80.

Also known for the co-lead in "Land of the Giants"
One of the first black male actors in lead role on US television
R.I.P. Mr. Boma. I'm sure you'll get a proper burial!

Dammit. He was a great actor, and he was from my area of San Diego, too. I always thought that he would have made a great addition to the regular TOS cast. RIP.

In another era, Lt. Boma surely could have been a recurring character. Mr. Marshall gave him TONS of definition in the single hour he played him.

Yes, the friction between Boma and Spock was similar to the antagonism between McCoy and Spock.

Awww, so sorry to hear this; loved him in "The Galileo Seven" and "Land of the Giants". Met him a few years ago at the Galileo unveiling and he was pretty cool

RIP Mr. Marshall

Just realized he wasn't just the last of the "seven"--- but the last of the "Marshall's as well.
William, Joan and Sarah all have paased away as well.

I was thinking that too! Booker Bradshaw also co-wrote The Horse Race for The Planet of The Apes TV series in 1974!

It always seemed to me that Lieutenant Boma should have been a semi regular in the show at least due to the way he is conflicted with Spock's command of the shuttle, almost as if they had clashed before!

RIP Mr. Marshall.

Always liked the characters he made so real. His "Galileo Seven" Lieutenant Boma should have been a regular.

I was always pleased by his work on Irwin Allen's Land Of The Giants (1968-70). He added so much to that series as a regular cast member.

He's off to his next adventure, and he will be missed.

Marshall was an important (but often overlooked) presence on 1960s TV as a black lead not only in a sci-fi series, but on TV in general. Almost always cast in roles worthy of respect, and I've never heard an unkind word about the man.

RIP, Don Marshall. I enjoyed his work on Land of the Giants and in Star Trek. Agreed he likely would have been a recurring character on the latter if Star Trek was today. I got a chance to watch The Lieutenant on DVD about two years ago and he played Nichelle Nichols fiancé in that on and worked with Dennis Hopper.

StarTrek.com reports that BarBara Luna, who was his friend, says that he died peacefully with his daughter, son and twin brother by his side. RIP.
