Fair enough, but it just seems that nobody there even investigated the possibility.
Except that it looks like they did try to reduce the damage done. The wounds Alpha was leaving were absolutely -wicked,- especially compared to the scars she's bearing now. There's a reason he attacked their face and there's a reason he cut as deepy and viciously as he did. If surgery could "easily" remove it -- especially as "easily" as you seem to think it to be -- then it would have been a pointless gesture.

But the reason has nothing to do with dolls, since he was doing this before he was "recruited".

This is true. I also felt character wise is was a misstep. I see where there were going by showing us that certain Dolls like Alpha and Echo are never entirely wiped; but I still felt it was far more interesting when he was cutting up Dolls to disable their future use, than when it turns out he was doing it because it was a left over personality fragment from being a garden variety psychopath.

I liked the explanation on screen that he couldn't spend time with Whiskey because she was the best. If Echo became the best, then he'd get all his free time to live happily every after with Whiskey.

It's not too different from how a smart man overfeeds his girfriend/wife until she believes that no other man would look at her because she has become an abomination... Which %99 of the time is balls out ridiculous, but women in large (pun intended) are vain narcissistic catty things you can't talk sense to.

It took me three episodes before I noticed Saunder's scars.
