Doggies, Doggos and Doggeroos!

I would like to adopt a chihuahua again. I hope it’s little tongue sticks out :adore:
If it's a girl, name it Ethel...or Wilma.

When we had Finn, we used to joke about adopting a girl Beagle and name it Becky, like the girl Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer liked in the story. I think it was more of Tom Sawyer, but Huck seemed interested in some versions/adaptions.

^Is its tongue sticking out or not like a new car option you can choose at the pet store. ;)
As stated, I would be adopting, so nothing will be “new car option” and none of it is happening at a pet store.

I only adopt from shelters and rescues.

With Fred I didn’t even see a picture of him before I fostered him. They just brought him over and I ended up adopting him.

Did "they" interview you something? I've read that certain breeders (not sure the statistics of whether all, most or some, etc) would meet a prospective dog owner, chat for a bit before matching the pup to the new owner.

Yep! I adopted him from Tiny Paws Rescue when he was 13.

I had to apply and they did a docket sheet background check. They sent a volunteer to meet me and check out my house (to assure I had a safe house, a good fence and yard). Then they gave opportunities to foster after that when they added me to a private Facebook group. That’s where they posted dogs that needed a foster home.

Fred had a name (Paco…rude), his size, breed and a little about his situation. No picture. They told me he needed to be in a home with no other dogs and was older. I just said yes and then they brought him over for a meet and greet.

The meet and greet went well and I felt comfortable with him. They let me take him and we stayed in touch until I decided to adopt him. Adopting him was one of the best things that ever happened to me.
