I only vaguely remember the guy, and the episode
My completely unfounded thoughts were (are) that he was simply an updated Harry Mudd
A loveable rogue for the 80s, or am I way off the mark ?
There is nothing that would make me want to watch this episode again to re evaluate it.
I think Okana was written for women, presenting a sort of fantasy character to lust after. The writers just couldn't summon up anything that made the character magnetic, and women respond because the script tells them to. The casting was anemic...
"The Outrageous Okona" was probably hastily put together as the writing staff struggled to recover from the 1988 writer's strike. Season 2 got better. Within a few weeks TNG produced some amazing episodes like "Measure of A Man" and "A Matter of Honor". "Okona" is harmless fluff.
