Does the Pon Farr cycle ever stop?

Here’s a question I have about Vulcan physiology as it relates to the Romulans…

If Romulans are basically Vulcans with a different philosophy, would it be safe to assume they also go through a version of Pon Farr?

Or for that matter, are capable of performing a mind meld and have telepathic abilities too?

I don't think that's ever been addressed. "Amok Time" seems to imply that Pon Farr is the price Vulcans pay for suppressing their emotions, which would imply the Romulans don't have to go through it. But it's also presented as a biological necessity, so...

I think Romulans just haven't developed the Vulcan mental disciplines, or they atrophied over time.
