Does Sony own the movie rights to all Spidey incarnations?

What I mean is that I know they have the movie rights to the basic Spider-Man mythos Amazing, Spectacular and I assume Ultimate since elements of that have been in the movies but do they also own the rights to Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Girl or Spider-Woman or does Marvel have the right to do movies based on those series? I was just wondering since it seems Sony ordered scripts for Spider 5 & 6 so they could keep the option from reverting back to Marvel as long as possible. It also seems like it would be smart of Marvel to launch their own Spider movie franchise if it all possible. I'm certain that if folks are willing to shell out money to see Transformers 2 then they sure as hell would be like "Spidey in the future, looks bad ass!"

Sony has the exclusive rights, Marvel can't even think about a Spider-Man movie for now. Since Spider-Girl is the (alternate universe) daughter of Peter and MJ I suspect she would be covered by Sony's licence as any other member of Spider-Man's supporting cast would be.

Jessica Drew, Julia Carpenter and Mattie Franklin (and Araña), on the other hand, are distinct characters. Arguably, she should be covered by the Avengers licence.

I would love to see Marvel take a crack at a Spider-Woman movie. There's no reason one couldn't work, assuming they put enough money into it and got a quality director for it.

Unfortunately it seems like the studios never want to make that leap for the female superheroes.

Are you kidding me? The Spider-Man movies have been massive moneymakers for Sony. You think Marvel Studios wouldn't want a bigger chunk of those profits? If I recall a few years back Marvel tried to grab back the movie rights to Spidey after the first film was a big hit. If I was running MS I'd be doing my best to try to launch my own Spider series just to cash in on the name value alone.

I think the price for the rights to Spider-Man would be too high for Marvel Sudios to attempt to acquire. Remember before Spider-Man was even made there was a huge fight between MGM I think and Sony for the rights (or was it Fox?) I can't even remember now what it cost Sony to acquire them.

It cost them their legal right to make James Bond films based on Kevin McClory's treatment for "Thunderball" and Ian Fleming's novel "Casino Royale"...and a big bucket o'cash.
