Does Odo have form limitations?

I wish we lived in a timeline where Rene Auberjonois was still around and could show up in one of these modern Trek shows (Picard in c. 2400, Discovery in c. 3190), sans makeup, and complete his arc that way.

That would've been a great idea, a missed opportunity by Kurtzman; I would love to know more of what you would have in mind in bringing Odo back for one of these series? As an Ambassador? A time traveler? Because Odo left to his homeworld doesn't mean he couldn't have had adventures in the Gamma Quadrant and beyond. I would love to know what you think?
