Does coffee make you aggressive?

But once I get my coffee, I'm fine. It's just the process of obtaining it that stresses me out.

That's how I feel. NO DELAYS. No bad coffee, no buying from places which make 5 Big Breakfasts before your single coffee because they were ordered first, no people paying for their coffee with credit cards in front of me, no one asking QUESTIONS in front of me.. actually just delete everyone standing between me and the coffee.

^I feel like you should just get your own coffee pot if it's really that big a deal.

I was thinking today about getting a Tassimo pot - they sell the packets in my local supermarket. Starbucks coffee, even. I'll have to ask whether I'd be allowed (there are strict rules - we're not allowed to eat at our desks, except for light snacks).

It's not rocket surgery, people!

I should point out that you have just quoted Oscar Leroy from Corner Gas. :techman: :D

I think the phrase predates Corner Gas by a bit. (And I've only seen the show once or twice.)

I have one plunger cup every morning if I'm out for the day, two if I'm at home on the weekend. They I have a few flat whites socially in a cafe. I'm not that keen on too much milk and started having long blacks instead . . .
You’d be amazed at some of the images running through my head before I Googled “plunger cup,” “flat white” and “long black.”

Caffeine is a very addictive drug that causes somesuch gland to release adrenaline. That's what the coffee high is. It can be dangerous in high doses.

Does it make you aggressive? That's a subjective judgement ultimately, but it does alter the personality in a fairly consistent way. I interpret this as an aggressive edge, a sharpness to the personality. It can be a useful stimulant, but I detest the hard addiction of it, being unable to "function" without it, and getting horrible headaches if the addiction isn't fed. I try to stay on the side where I'm in the driver's seat, but with caffeine it's a slippery slope to headache-ville.

Honestly, I think it is part of the "conspiracy" of the military-industrial complex. Keep 'em raging on caffeine during the day, alcohol on the weekends - boost the productivity on workdays, and let them be stupid and anesthesized when not working. Keep them addicted to the substances that are good for The Machine(tm). And absolutely eradicate the substances that free them - marijuana, LSD, mushrooms. The "entheogens". Equate those freeing, non-addictive substances with horrible and dangerous addictive drugs.
I don't think this happened in some evil boardroom, it's the natural byproduct the kind of world we keep choosing to live in.

I'm more prone to get into a debate, over anything if I don't get caffeine. I mean, I'll argue whether or not blue is the proper color for the classroom walls at my community college.
This is what I do when I am in a good mood. When I'm coffee-deprived, I just snarl at people.

If things get really bad (No coffee or soda in a day) I keep up this profane running commentary in my head for most of the day. If it goes on long enough, I will (and have) snap at people.

I've yet to actually hit somebody, but I'm sure it would feel pretty damn good...

That's what I used to drink but I don't like foam and I don't like never knowing if the foam will be 2 inches thick and seriously reducing the amount of coffee I get. Mind you half the time the flat whites are thick with foam too so I've started asking for a flat white with no foam. I'm a real coffee nazi and a pain in the ass to my local baristas. What I really expect from a cafe is consistency. If it's always weak, fine, I'll order a double shot. I just hate when every single person makes it differently so you can't even tweak it. I now only drink coffee in one cafe regularly and I have figured out the 4 different barista's styles and I order based on who is making it. I always ask for it "hot" because of the tendency towards tepid. One of the newer baristas tried lecturing on how in Europe the coffee is drunk tepid so you can drink it down real quickly. Sorry darling, I do not care one whit how anyone else drinks it or how my wanting it hot is incorrect, make it HOT damnit. Oh and don't burn the coffee of scald the milk, there's a good dear.

Like I said, I'm a coffee nazi.

I tend to feel that way about most things I'm in line for. If you're not sure about what you want, stand off to the side, away from the line, and figure it out. Or be more decisive while in line.

The tinfoil? Yes, it's in Aisle 3. Have a nice day, sir.

Perhaps you don't understand the subtlety of putting the word "conspiracy" in quotes, the tongue-in-cheek nature of "The Machine(tm)", or the meaning of the last sentence of the post.
If you do understand these things, then your response was a flame, which I'm not in the mood to tolerate here.:vulcan:
If you want to go there, post in TNZ.

O... kay? I was being tongue-in-cheek because I thought your opinions on caffeine were rather over-the-top. I mean, if you were joking yourself, then you didn't exactly make it obvious, and if you're serious, then, frankly, I think I'm still within my rights to think that's ridiculous.

And if the mods think that's a flame, then so be it, but I feel as though I remained well within the acceptable level of discourse for Misc. When you post something like that, you have to expect at least a few incredulous responses.

Sure didn't sound like a flame to me.

And besides, everyone knows that The Machine is actually Brian Wilson of the SF Giants.

It didn't sound like a flame to me either. The coffee nazi remarks:cardie: and "conspiracy" rants:alienblush: were much more offensive.:nyah:

Kay, I was pretty sure it didn't come off as a flame, too, but I appreciate the backup, folks.

I agree with whoever said first that *not* drinking coffee makes me agressive, or at least cranky. I do think that caffeine is a stronger drug than people generally give it credit for though, and I know I'm addicted to the stuff.

Sounds like someone didn't have their coffee! ;)

Time for a musical interlude . . .

It makes my mind hyper active for a while, then I crash for hours. If I have more than one cup, I'll spend most of the day looking for a bathroom.
