I love turkey! Turkey sandwiches, turkey salad, turkey gravy, turkey hash, turkey a la King, and gallons of turkey soup…

Do you know, you prompted me to look up why the food and the country share a name. I never, ever bothered to do that before.

Damn you for making me learn things on Thanksgiving.

And what's the answer? Because I may be willing to learn on Thanksgiving, but damn if I'm going to put any work into it.

I don't like turkey all that much. I will eat it to be polite, for example, if I am at someone else's house at Christmas.

Or, short answer, the Turkey apparently bears a strong resemblance to a "Turkey fowl" (Guinea fowl). Turkey fowls came from Africa, but were imported into England through Turkey.

I love turkey! I think it's because in addition to killing it, it's one of the only foods where it's customary to humiliate it before you eat it :D

I love the dark meat by itself, and the white meat I'll usually put in a nice, toasted, turkey and cheese sandwich with honey mustard.

I love smoked turkey in a bagel with piccalilli, mustard, and mayonnaise, but not directly out of an oven. Not too fond of roast chicken either, unless it has been especially well seasoned.

I used to like it more when I was a kid. Now I can take it or leave it. I prefer ham on Thanksgiving now.

I do like turkey luncheon meat throughout the year. Which is weird since it is may more processed than the big turkey served on Thanksgiving. Oh well, the luncheon meat is still good to me.

Reminds me of the Mother Goose and Grimm strip from a few days ago. A turkey drug dealer is in an alley holding out vials of something and he says "Tryptophan?"

I don't eat red meat so I eat a lot of turkey. For the holidays I don't bother buying a whole turkey but just a large breast and love eating it with mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce.

Then the rest of the year I eat a lot of ground turkey. I use it in chilis, meatloaf, burgers etc. Love sliced turkey on whole grain bread with coarse mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, purple onions.

Which begs the question, what did the Native Americans call the bird?

As for me, turkey is a big "meh". It's too dry. My parents always had duck for all the holidays, which is a *lot* jucier! But I've had to get used to turkey since getting the in-laws.
