Does a book/short story like this exist?

Does anyone know of any books, short stories, etc (besides Doctor Who and Star Trek) about civilization building Dinosaurs who at the end of the Cretaceous spot the meteor and take steps to survive (like leaving the planet, living underground, etc) or something similar.

I swear that I've heard of a book about that, but can't remember any further details.

wasn't that part of the plot of the Super Mario Brothers movie? and as for books, Sentient and civilized I can't think of any, but there are tons of land of the lost like stories

I've never seen that film and I only just now have read the Wikipedia article on it, so that hasn't influenced my memory.

Dinotopia is one that might fit your idea. There is a TV series as well, but I haven't seen it except for images online.
