Doctor Who moving to Disney+ in 2023

I'd be done with a Judoon series. Well, maybe a limited series.

I'm just very, very tired of the Daleks and Cybermen. There have been many great stories about each, not just on the show, but also Big Finish and (presumably since I haven't read any) the countless books and comics. But I'm ready for something different.

@The Wormhole Agreed. I don't see the point myself. I guess the alternative is to show how random groups of people/aliens defeat them. But that would also get old!

Terry Nation tried to get a Dalek series of the ground way back. But that failed to take off . . . probably for similar reasons.

Your Judoon idea is an interesting one!

If the Shadow Proclamation ever gets revisited, I'd like it if they could go with RTD's original plan for them, that they're an alliance consisting of all the alien races introduced in his first era.

Well the Judoon suits are clearly still in okay shape to still be used for one of Jodie's seasons.

The problem with doing series about the villains is that, if they're from the villains' perspective, they'll be boring. The Daleks, the Cybermen, the Weeping Angels, have hardly a personality to be found among them. And if the shows follow, say, humans in the future fighting those threats without the Doctor's help, the shows will either be too grim or they'll have to weaken the villains so the humans can win. I mean, if ordinary people can beat the Daleks without the Doctor, why has Earth so often needed him to save the day?

Anyway, there was already a streaming Daleks! series from the BBC tying in with the Time Lord Victorious event not too long ago, and it shows how hard it'd be to tell a story from their perspective:

I would agree about the Daleks and Cybermen, but the Weeping Angels are still pretty mysterious. A series showing their history, how they came to be, etc. could be fun.

What about a prequel showing Davros between the events of The Witch’s Familiar (wasn’t that the one where the Doctor spares him as a boy?) and Genesis of the Daleks? Too niche?

I think a Young Davros series is probably the best shot for developing a Dalek series. The Daleks as we know them are the Mark III Travel Machines - so plenty of scope for some more primitive versions.

Looking forward to the return of the giant clam!
