Okay, I got ya. So the main figure would be Eight, with a swappable young WarDoc head...which is pretty much what you said in the first place. (Note to self: Must read more carefully.)

The Day of the Doctor John Hurt figure does have an optional Paul Mcgann head, but Hurt's body and outfit doesn't match Mcgann's in Night of the Doctor.

I didn't know that, but yes, I would prefer the night of the Doctor version..with a young john hurt war doctor head to swap out instead.

Yeah, I'd also like to see a proper 8th Doc figure from "Night of the Doctor." The swappable head on the War Doctor figure doesn't make any sense since Eight never wore that costume.

I have wondered -- and I want to stress that this is strictly my speculation -- if the intention with that figure was to include a Christopher Eccleston head but for some reason they didn't (or were unable to) secure the necessary permissions.

Trying to decipher the workings of Character Options is harder than solving the Riddle of the Sphinx. But if you're curious about that stuff, I recommend the forums for the on-line store "Who North America" or the "Celestial Toymaker" sub-forum at Gallifrey Base.

I visit those site on a regular basis on the rare chance "valid" information is released concerning upcoming figures.
