Doctor Who as Mr. Men book series

The final four books (Dr. Third, Dr. Fifth, Dr. Sixth, Dr. Tenth) are now out.

In case anyone missed it, the February issue of Doctor Who Magazine featured a great profile of Roger Hargreaves, where he talked about his work, his father's work, his work process, and how the Doctor Who Mr. Men series came about, along with an aside about whether The Thirteenth Doctor would get her own entry.

I missed out on the whole series (I heard of #13's drawing a couple weeks or so ago), but Mr. and Ms. There's a certain style, though some images make me think "Peanuts character + Mr Potato Head + Dr Who = drawing I'm looking at." I think what makes them work more than anything are the facial expressions most often associated with the relevant Dr's personality at the time of their creation. I can't deny there's a certain charm in their visage.

My copy of Dr. Thirteenth arrived today (after being delayed by the USPS for a couple days) and it's even more gorgeous than I expected! It's considerably larger than the the regular paperbacks and the lovely story is about how The Thirteenth Doctor goes all out in preparation for Yaz's birthday before things go belly-up in classic Mr. Men-style.
