Doctor Who Americanized! [web comic link]

Yes, the Americans would ruin Doctor Who with a car chase in the TARDIS. Oh wait, we did that 3 years ago.

I expected nothing less from the painful drivel that is CAD, and Tim 'I know everything about Doctor Who after watching Eccleston' Buckley...

I halfway expected another miscarriage. But that's always easier than having to design a new character instead of just reusing the same ones saved to photoshop.

Jason Statham would make an interesting Doctor...

"Oi, Davros, you fuck off or i'll come over there and nut you so hard your third eye'll be in the back of yer head!"

Something was bothering me about that picture, and now I've finally put my finger on it. Shouldn't Statham Doctor be holding a sonic pistol?

Here's the thing... I love my country, I'm proud to be American... but we fuck up Britain's stuff. Seriously.

To my readers across the pond, I'd like to apologize on behalf of the nitwits in Hollywood, and the American public who goes to see this stuff without knowing any better.
 Amen. :techman:

We don't screw up everything our Brit cousins make. "The Office" is actually pretty good (and I'm a fan of the original). As for "Doctor Who" it's so british, there is simply no way to Americanize it. Fortunately most people realize that and any plan to port it over have died quiet deaths.

Certainly we can remake some Brit ideas into successful shows (Sanford & Son, All in the Family, The Office, etc). But, most of the time, Hollywood reshuffles them so completely to be successful, that they might as well have come up with something original.

Sure, it's generalization. But, that quote summed up exactly what I've always felt about cross-pond pollinating of our entertainment...

*Cough* Red dwarf US remake *cough*

Here's one you'll like. Some Hollywood company bought the movie rights to the Discworld novel 'Mort' (about Death taking an apprentice). They were talking to Lord Pratchett of That Ilk, and their plans, when they said, ":Say, can we, uh, lose that Death guy? I mean, he's a bit of a downer". Apparently, Lord Pratchett was struck speechless. Some time later, Bill & Ted came out, and laid that myth low.

As for Statham, I'd like it! But he'd be thea action Dcctor, make Jon Pertwee look like he's standing still! All action, ALL the time!

Comeing soon, 'Runaway Bride 2: Electric Boogaloo'.
