Re: Who's your daddy?

But, hopefully we'll get to see Jenny again (spin-off series? I say yes!).

How about "Jenny The Dalek Slayer"??? :rommie:
that would fill the time between Doctor Who specials next year.

come to think of it, the episode could have been trying to set up a spin-off.

one problem however is that she has a part in the BBC 3 Spooks spin-off.

Anyone notice the inside of Jenny's shuttle had a distinctly "roundell" appearance?
you were looking at the shuttle?

I'm pretty sure shes young enough to be my daughter.
I still remeber her in her school girls outfit from the Bill.

This episode will be repeated on BBC3 on Sunday May 11th at 8.00pm, and again on Friday May 16th at 9.00pm

I'll have to catch one of these repeats or hope someone uploads the episode online, I caught only enough of the episode to say;

The Doctor's Daughter is hot ;)

And Nigel Terry appears as a leader of men, how great is that?

I voted Above Average, there was just enough to lift it up a level for me with a few good lines ("that doesn't make me a monkey's uncle" was hilarious).

But... I think the biggest flaw was revealed in Confidential - someone gave the author a title and told them to make a story, which sounds like a crap way of writing to me, and something I tend to think the latter Trek movies suffered from. As a result, the story felt rushed and didn't fully come together.

One thing that's struck me about the new series, and that we keep getting tantalising bits of backstory that are yanked out of reach. The Doctor was talking about the Time War and I was almost screaming I want to hear about it!!! There is so much there to hear about, I'm hoping they do something with it next year with the special episodes.

Only average for me. I thought that the way they made Jenny the Doctor's daughter a complete cop out.

On the plus side the Hath were not bad at all and Jenny was very likeable indeed. (I've been a Dr Who fan for a long time and I have years worth of press cuttings, and it's hard for me to believe that she is the same cute little girl that I saw photos of when Peter Davison was the Doctor!)

I thought it was a good episode, and the podcast was great. I saw the ending coming, but I'm glad they kept her alive. I hope she comes back as a companion, whether that's for a special or a longer term.

good episode, naff ending. The killing was entirely arbitrary and out of the blue, and the regeneration not much better. But the main bulk of the episode was a pretty good idea - and the 'short war' idea was a good one - although I would have made it a month or so to add believability.
Hopefully the Doctor's daughter is used well in future. Gratuitous guest appearances when the character in question is not plot-necessary (I'm looking at you Dr. Jones) don't count.

I dunno. Martha was in a situation here that a relatively new companion like Donna shouldn't be able to handle so easily. I thought Freema turned in one of her best performances yet, to be honest.

Yeah, CC makes a good point, as cool as it would to see Jennie (Jenny?) in the future (and Carey Mulligan!), the story has to come first (and I'd be wary about people who aren't called Stephen Moffat writing my dear Sally, but that's a different point entirely), as Martha was just not needed here...

Anyone else think we might see The Doctor having to stop a misguided Jenny at some point in the future? Something about her glee at "fighting creatures" made me wonder if she hadn't rather innocently missed the point about her father a little bit.

aw sod it, I thought it was great!

This had a real old school feel about it, and I thought Jenny was great too, anyone else get a real Leela vibe from her? I think she'd make a great companion someday, and we'll definitely see her again.

The death/rebirth thing was a bit naff, but I guess they had to come up with a way of keeping her alive whilst not having the doctor take her on board the TARDIS.

Really good Martha epiosde as well, although when she was wandering around on the surface I had a terrible feeling the planet was actually going to be Skaro!

Can't believe we're 6 episodes into S4 and there hasn't been a naff episode yet!

I just hope no nasty baddies get a hold of her and use her genetic makeup in some dastardly plan......

Oh would that not be a twist....Davros(Assuming he is back) catches her and uses the Dr's own genetic makeup to create timelord hybrid Daleks..........

Just got a chance to watch the ep. and I enjoyed it. Not the best of the season, but it certainly does lay the groundwork for a spinoff with Jenny, once Dad grows her a new TARDIS from his hand, and used pinball machine parts.

I rather thought they handled her coming back to life rather well. I do think she can regenerate (6 1/2 times?), but I don't think that's what happened on the table. It seemed to be more along the lines of the Doctor re-growing his hand provided it was within 20 hours of the new regeneration. She was quite new, so her body probably just repaired/regrew the damaged bits and she was right as rain.

I do hope we get to see her again. She has tons of potential as a character, and I would surprise lots of buried Timelord knowledge in her DNA.

I am going back and forth on this episode. I think I'm going to give it an Above Average

I'm didn't like the way it started. I mean last week we got the Doctor saving the world again, and then out of the blue the Tardis gets transfered to this world pretty much shanghing Martha. This week we find out that it was a paradox or some kind of thing and it felt a tad bit of a bad excuse to make last week's a cliffhanger. Also, Martha wasn't that great this week. I thought she chewed up the material and wasn't as interesting as the Doctor, Donna and Jenny.

Still the reason I liked this story was because of everything else. It was a great story, and I really liked Jenny, and not just because she was hot. . The end was predictable, but I guess you really couldn't have Jenny on the Tardis with Donna and soon to be Rose as well.

I did have an observation though. I was thinking how great of an episode this would have been with Chris Eccleston as the doctor. Maybe it was just me being nostalgic for Season 1 Doctor Who today or something but when he talked to Jenny about the Time War, and the Doctor's attitude toward the whole thing, I was thinking back to season one. Still, a well done episode of Doctor Who in what I'm starting to think might be the best season. There hasn't been an episode of Doctor Who I've not liked this season so far.
