Do you wear your wedding ring?

Do you wear your wedding ring

I wear it every day but weekends and at night. I usually go on fire calls at night and on weekends and jewelry is frowned on.

Mine is a simple gold band and the only time I've had it off in ten years is when they made me take it off when I was in the hospital for a minor operation. Getting it off was quite a struggle.

My wife wears a similar wedding band but rarely wears her diamond engagement ring, which we both agree I should never have bought.

We're the same, but my wife still wears her engagement ring, too.

I'm married and I wear my ring every time I leave the house. I don't wear it when I'm sleeping or bathing, and frequently take it off when I'm cooking.

For what i spent on her engagement ring, she had BETTER wear the damned thing!

Then again, just got engaged in December, so I'd have to pry it off right now if I wanted to see it...

I also wear mine all the time, rarely taking it off. It's a plain gold band, so doesn't really pick up junk or get caught on stuff easily.

I took it off one time several years ago (it was probably a month or so before our 1st anniversary) because I was swimming and sun bathing and I was thinner back then and it would get loose with the sunscreen and when my fingers shrunk in cold water. And I lost it in the sand. A WHOLE lot of sand, for miles and miles, nothing but sand. I looked for it for over an hour without luck, finally said screw it, slapped the ground and saw this gold glinting in the sun. I swore that day I wasn't taking it off again.

I don't even own a wedding ring. Hubby and I'd been living together for more than 10 years when we did get married, so he knew well beforehand that buying a ring would be a waste of money.

We did discuss getting tattoos on our respective ring fingers ... but, everyone says that's the most painful place to get a tattoo.

I'm married but don't wear mine, mostly because my fingers are a lot fatter than they were 19 years ago.

With this poll, I sense...puzzlement...

Why have one at all if you're not gonna wear the thing?

::scratching head:: (with wedding ring hand)

Hey! That would be very symbolic of the institution of marriage...painful...

:guffaw:

Doh! Did I SAY that?

Married and I wear my ring almost all the time. I didn't want to before I got married, not a ring type of guy, but my wife insisted and now I'm used to it.

I've been married just shy of 10 years, and wear my ring pretty much all the time. I only take it off in the morning when I'm in the shower, if I'm doing yard work, or when I'm working with certain foods (i.e., baking, raw poultry, etc).

Not married, and I don't really have strong opinions on this one way or another. My parents had a similar ambivalence - dad never wears his ring (partly because he was a surgeon so it would eventually have got lost with all the taking off putting on again, and partly because he just didn't like wearing jewellery) while mum wore hers all the time (actually, in later years she couldn't take it off because of joint swelling, though it was still perfectly comfortable where it was).

I am soon to be married and will wear a ring. It'll make it harder to get some on the side, but she insists ;)

My dad never wore one, but he worked as a shipfitter/steel fabricator and didn't want to lose a finger.

I wear my wedding ring when I leave the house, and often wear my engagement ring. I sporadically wear the rings at home. They come off for washing dishes, yard work, bathing, and sleeping. When I wear gloves at work, I take off the engagement ring because it gouges me, but keep on the wedding ring.

My husband has never had a ring...doesn't wear jewelry.

I'm getting married in early April. My fiancee and I have yet to buy the wedding rings. I hate rings, but I'll buy one for myself, and I'll probably wear it.

Did I mention that I hate rings?
